“Will be staying here again, without a doubt”
Reviewed September 29, 2011

Having just had the Newcastle area added to my sales territory, I needed somewhere where I could stay for at least one or two nights per month. I thought I would try the Staybridge, as Holiday Inn had a promotion based on staying in different brands. The fact that I have just changed another booking at another hotel in the chain to this one says it all.

I booked a studio room (apartment). The room is a good size, with a little kitchenette. There is a two ring stove, with saucepans and all the other kit one would need to cook something simple of an evening. There is even a dishwasher in the room. Large bed, good sized shower room. As a Platinum Priority Points member, I also had a free bottle of beer in the fridge, and some snacks on the table waiting for me.

The Staybridge has an evening reception every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, serving wine, beer and soft drinks, along with snack foods (pate and cheese). You don't have to mix with other guests and in fact, no one did, but it was a nice touch. Breakfast is a buffet breakfast, which is more than sufficient. There is free internet in the bar area, and sufficient light to work from a laptop. Car parking is available, although you are asked to display a sticker on the dashboard, as they have had a problem with students using their car park.

Overall, I would definately stay here again, and will be making this my base for future business trips to Newcastle.

Room Tip: Studio rooms are more than adequate.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of September. Hotel is located about 5 mins from the Quayside and a 10-15 min walk from the station and main shopping area (via an underpass which we avoided using at night). Check in was quick and friendly and we were given a room on the 5th floor facing an appartment block across the street. I think the rooms on the front of the hotel would have great views across the river. We had a suite with a sitting room and a kitchen area, and a seperate bedroom. The rooms were very clean and very well equiped; TVs in both rooms, safe, phone, wireless and wired internet and all the kitchen equipment you would ever need. Everything in the kitchen was spotless and looked new.
The bed was very comfortable and we didn't hear a sound from the corridor nor neighbouring rooms. The bathroom has a bath with the shower over it and the usual toiletries. As with the kitchen everything was spotless and looked new.
A self service buffet breakfast was included which was good quality and had plenty of choice. You can also take your breakfast back to the room.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, with a special thanks to Alex who was very helpful on check out.
This is a great place for couples who want a bit more space, families (I think the sofa was a sofa bed), and for people on business who want a bit of personal space at the end of the day.

This is the third year we've stayed at this hotel for the Great North Run. Expensive for this weekend, but what a great place. Very friendly staff, great concept with One bedroom suite (double bed for adults and bed settee in living room for kids) and kitchen (two rings, convection microwave oven, fridge freezer and dishwasher). They have made apartment hotels into a real home from home environment.

Room Tip: Top 2 floors facing towards quayside so that you can get views of bridges

What a brilliant hotel (serviced apartments) this is. We stayed for two days over the Great North Run weekend. The accommodation is fabulous with all the mod-cons you could need. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast is adequate, mainly continental, with 3 or 4 hot items available if required. Parking is charged at £8 per night and there were plenty of spaces, even with a full hotel. For those without a car the Manors Metro Station is around a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The Quayside is also around a 5 minute stroll.
All-in-all a wonderful stay and we will be back.

Room Tip: Rear rooms look over the car park and are also overlooked by neighbouring apartments. You want a fr...

This Staybridge is generally up to the usual high standards. The lounge is not so agreeable as the one in Liverpool. It's not segregated from Reception. And it's not so easy to find a comfortable chair, particularly one with some privacy and enough light to read. The TV in the lounge is generally on for breakfast but off in the evening, which may or may not be to your taste.

And if you expect to find a face flannel in the bathroom, as you might if you'd stayed in Liverpool, you will be disappointed!

The neighbourhood is not a smart one but the hotel a short walk to the quayside.

I booked the Staybridge Suites for the Great North Run and was not really expecting too much as I booked out of necessity. We were both really pleased we booked this hotel and we had a great time. The rooms were nicely decorated, clean and everything in the room worked well. The small kitchen was also very clean and very useful for a weekend such as this. The Staff always had a smile and were really helpful with GNR logistics and helping us with recommendations for bars and restaurants. The breakfast was good and they even put on free pasta and drinks the night before the run.

Overall a very pleasant stay and it more than exceeded our expectations.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor which had a decent view of the Millennium Bridge

I have stayed at the Staybridge for the past 7 weeks and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The staff here is absolutely wonderful,I have never stayed anywhere that has the staff that this place does. Alex at the front desk is especially delightful, she is amazing.Being away from home for so long Alex really tries her hardest to make you feel at home and that alone is priceless. Thank you Staybridge and Alex for making my stay amazing. I will be back.
