We visit Newcastle regularly to see our daughter. Each time we eat at a different restaurant and this time it was Red Mezze. Tucked away just behind St James's Park, we went on a quiet Wednesday, so did not have any of the problems encountered by other reviewers, but it was still ticking over business nicely. 5 of us had 3 courses each with just soft drinks and the bill came to £83 (alcohol is reasonably priced). The staff were friendly, food was superb and we all had a lovely night. It is unpretentious eating, suitable for any occasion and all ages - one little girl was having her birthday dinner there with her Dad and they brought out a cake with candles for her.
