This is our second time here, and we cant fault it. Rooms are spacious, warm and clean.Coffee tea and biscuits in your room. Beds comfortable, didn t hear anyone coming in at night. Breakfast great. The meals that they do in the bar, plenty of choice and tasty. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There are 4 of us in the one room and its fine. No complaints whatsoever. We will be booking for next year as well.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the corridor are good.

My sister and niece and I stayed 3 nights at the Corner House as my older sister was very ill in Freeman Hospital. In the morning we could not confirm if we would need the room or be going home, the managers bent over backwards to accomodate our needs. We were ruturning very late in the evening and always missed the food. The first night we opted to bring in 'a chippie' the duty manager sent plates, cutlery and all manner of sauces to help us out. My sister passed away and we returned to the hotel again late and without confirming our booking. Alan? (duty manager) arranged sandwiches and chips and brought it up to our room, which was very welcoming. In the morning we were giving directions and help with the buses as we needed paper work before we returned to Scotland.
I can't thank the staff enough, they made what was a horrible time for our family so much easier
to bare.

Picked this hotel because my daughter lives just around the corner. I stayed for two nights and stayed in two different rooms. The first night was a single room with a Queen sized bed which was very comfortable and quite roomy. The second night I was in the largest room that was very nice with a large bathroom. I didn't have breakfast but had a steak meal whilst watching Man Utd get stuffed by Spurs. The pub is very much like a Wetherspoon pub which is not such a bad thing. It's about a 10 min bus ride to the town centre or £6.50 taxi ride. The staff were great especially Angela (I think) serving the food. Would definitely use the hotel in the future.

Although we live in the Newcastle area, it had been years since we sampled the famous night life of Newcastle, the Bigg Market and the Quayside, we really wanted to make a day and night of it so we decided to stay over night and enjoy the quayside market on the Sunday. Unfortunately for us Newcastle is a very popular venue and we found most of the hotels fully booked, a little disappointed we looked further afield and found the Corner House Hotel, I remembered this place from my teens and it was a fun place then! We rang the hotel and spoke to the manager Andy who had us booked up in minutes, That was the start of a fabulous weekend the hotel is great, the staff are well trained at their respective jobs, the manager Andy is so attentive and he litterally runs the place by himself.Well done for a splendid job. The food and the Beer were first class and very reasonably priced too. On the Sunday morning we went through Jesmond Dene, a beautiful walk amongst the trees and flowers with the stream flowing well it really was pleasant, we then went to the quayside market which was just as busy and vibrant as we remembered it to be. We are looking forward to doing it again soon.

I stayed in a family room in this hotel. The rooms are situated above the pub, but we did not have any problems with noise. There is a free private car park behind the hotel. Basically, the stay was Ok, but I expected a better room after looking at photos on the internet. The main problems are:
- there are two (typical English) separate taps for hot and cold water in the wash basin (extremely inconvenient for washing your hands or face);
- the water is extremely hot. Even in the coldest position the shower was very hot. We - adults, could tolerate it but I would not shower a child in that water.
Breakfast (extra cost) was excellent (probably the best breakfast we had in UK during this 9-days trip).
