Visited on a Sunday night. Food was ok but have had better curry. Decor a bit shabby. Not that cheap. Won't hurry back

“Not bad at all”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

For a place that is open until half 2 in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays, midnight on week days and is a highly popular place for drunks, the food is not that bad. The servers are friendly enough, which we didn't expect as I can only imagine what kind of people they will have to put up with, so we were anticipating quite a tough attitude toward customers. The menu offers all the Indian classics. I ordered a prawn Rogan Josh. This came with 4 large king prawns and a pilau rice. The rice was a bit greasy but the curry was of a nice quality and standard. Over all it is not the best Indian food but it certainly isn't awful. Would recommend if you get peckish after a few drinks in town.

“Best meal ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

I walked past the restaurant at lunch time and the menu was intriguing. I returned for dinner and took advantage of their 15% off rate for takeaway. And boy, did I take away!
I ordered the Chicken Balti Garlic. Or something like that. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Not overcooked like most. Everything was still moist and nice. Chicken pieces were great. No fat, no gristle. Full pieces of garlic cooked until they were soft. The sauce and seasonings were great.
I ordered a side of rice which I liked, and garlic naan. Very good as well.
I would eat here again, and again. Great food.

“Tasty Curry”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Had a lovely curry here when we were staying in Newcastle for the weekend. The place looked as though it was in a time warp from the outside, but don't be put off. The food did not disappoint, very tasty. And as quick as someone left, there was someone else coming in. A busy place for a Sunday night, which is usually a good sign.

“Great food and service.Shame about the decor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

Picked at random on a first stay in Newcastle. Looked inviting from outside. Good welcome prompt service. Great balti. Interior could do with sprucing up. Business was slow (freezing cold Sunday at 6pm).
