We have eaten here regularly for years & love its fantastic, authentic Italian food and atmosphere. The owner and his family are lovely and greet all the regulars on first name terms ! The dishes they serve are always so interesting & imaginative. It's like going to eat at an Italian friend's house !

I've known this traditional Italian cafe for a number of years now & visited both for pleasure & for business many times.
Recent visitors will notice that the name has changed to Jude Ti Amo in honour of owner Tomaso's wife who tragically passed away in 2011.
This bistro style cafe, buried in a suburb of Newcastle, is for anyone who appreciates beautifully cooked traditional Italian food. Molto gustoso e meraviglioso!
And you can watch your meal being cooked by 'Il Professore' as the kitchen is part of the cafe. The menu choice is small but wide ranging & somewhat biased towards the sumptuous flavours of Puglia in South East Italy where Tomaso hails from.
However, if you want a pizza you'll be disappointed as pasta, meat & fish dishes are the order of the day.
My tip, which will earn you many brownie points, is to ask Tomaso to surprise you with a dish of his choice. I always do that now & I rarely get anything from the menu & every meal is like opening the best present on Christmas morning.
The premises are not licenced. But no worries, there's an off licence just across the road. Just buy a bottle of your favourite vino bianco/rosso/rosa & take it back.
For the cooks amongst you, Tomaso also sells a wide range of Italian foods, oils etc. I always buy a few things to take home so that I can try & emulate Tomaso's cooking...unsuccessfully.
Mr grumpy 'multimedia0312' who found the cafe shut when he visited is being somewhat impatient & unfair. How can he make assumptions about the business methods & rate it as 'terrible' when he hasn't even tried the food? Tomaso is unlikely to want your business anyway. For future reference, Jude Ti Amo is always closed on a a Monday. That reviewer will be even more annoyed In July/August since, in line with the Italian holidays, Tomaso always returns to Italy for several weeks.
In summary, go there for breakfast, lunch or dinner soon. You'll be very glad you did.
Buon appetito tutti!

How odd. An Italian cafe shut at lunchtime I visited. Clearly owned by someone who doesn't need the business.

Such a fantastic little restaurant, great staff, gorgeous fresh food and the prices are to die for!
You can bring your own alcohol which makes it even more worthwhile!
