“Lovely place to spend the afternoon!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

My daughter is into dinosaurs and I love museums so we decided to take a trip to the great north museum (I still call it the hancock!) It's free although we did go to the cafe and have a trip to the giftshop on the way out! We spent a good few hours here and throughly enjoyed ourselves. There is so much to see and there are interactive things for kids to do. It is very central and easy to get too. Will definately be visitng again and would highly reccommend.

“planetarium was excellent - museum was decent.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

Having never been to a planetarium before, I was looking looking forward to this, and it was awesome. Very interesting and educational.
The museum was ok. Nothing really gripped us as we walked round, and we are usually the types to take an age at these types of things, absorbing all the knowledge on offer. It was free though, with the planetarium costing a couple of pounds.
Planetarium gets a 5, Museum gets a 3, so this place gets a 4. If you are around then pop in and have a look.

“Spur of the moment trip out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

Decided on a last minute trip out. The kids love dinosaurs so decided to take them to the museum which features a tyrannasaurus skeleton. Free entry made it all the more appealing but we did leave a donation in one of the boxes because it was well worth it. Its not a day to spend the day but you can easily spend a few hours wandering round the 3 floors. The cafe is reasonably priced and the hot beef stottie is a must!

“A fantastic place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

We live nearby and visit this museum regularly with our children aged 4 and 1. They both love coming here. Staff are great, there's lots to see with quite a few interactive exhibits and the children love playing in the mouse house. Easily accessed by car or public transport and free entry - we'd highly recommend a visit.

“freebie family friendly fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

It's easy to get to on foot from the metro and the city centre. There is no visitor parking on site. My 5 year old daughter likes the T-rex, the egyptian film upstairs and being able to open drawers etc. We've just been to the NE Marine Wildlife week and have been picking up whale teeth, looking down a microscope and she had her face painted. Had great fun whilst learning about marine wildlife. The staff were are lovely to her and really enjoyed showing her things.
