I've been coming here for years without disappointment. Never had a breakfast, always lunch. They have a great selection of quality sandwiches, and the coffee is always tasty, served by friendly, helpful staff and a good manageress.

The ambience is comfortable even though it's nearly always full. There are daily papers to peruse at leisure, and the clientele is a nice mixture

Had Sunday morning breakfast. Very popular, the place was packed. Usual breakfast menu and reasonably priced. Service was quite quick to our table even though they were full to capacity. food was very good. Definately visit again when in town.

After seeing this place advertised in our hotel literature pack as the best breakfast in Newcastle and reading the reviews me and my bf decided to give it a go.

When we walked in we thought how nice and relaxed it was and agree it was far from Costa etc in a very good way. The big glass display fridge of sandwiches looked gorgeous and I was very tempted to forgo brekkie and have one of these, wish I had now!

We asked the lady behind the counter where the menus were, she just sighed and pointed to a blackboard on the wall. Ok, maybe we should have seen this, but we didn't, there was no need to be like that, she didn't even speak just pointed.

We ordered two full English breakfasts. Fantastic value in my opinion £6 including tea/coffee/juice and toast They came rather quickly, sadly that's the last good thing.

Mine was swimming in bean juice, not a lot of juice, more juice and a side of breakfast. It was asif the juice had been poured onto the plate then the breakfast put onto it and squashed into it. Everything was saturated, including the toast put in it and the foil packets of butter floating in it too!

I didn't attempt mine, it just looked awful. My bf ate about half of his but he eats most things, both meals were barely luke warm but they had both been swimming in bean juice so weren't going to be hot. No one came to ask if everything was ok and we did sit for quite some time finishing out drinks.

A real shame when everyone else has such nice things to say about it :(

Ive just finished a lovely luxury breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs has to be one of the best ive had in town.
They have a great breakfast range mostly priced around £6. I found Blakes to be a nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere its been a great start to a dull drizzly day.

Great choice of food, relaxing atmosphere and background music. The best place in the world for a breakfast while reading the Sunday papers
