“nice friendly pub”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Stopped in here for lunch on a walk. Its a nice friendly country pub with a nice selection of ales. Menu was a bit limited but the food was very nice and service was good. Good place to stop for lunch- the other pubs in Haslemere/Hindhead didn't look as good!

We had lunch here for the first time today which was lovely. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was very good. They made my 90 year old nan a smaller meal as she doesn't eat much. We received a nice warm welcome and this continued throughout. Unfortunately my son was sick after the meal (nothing to do with the food and I cleared up the small amount of mess on the floor) but the staff did not make us feel bad about it. Thank you very much!

we would definitely recommend the wheatsheaf as a good venue. Had a fantastic lunch despite the fact that the restaurant and bar area were fully booked, and that we had changed our party from 4 to 6 at relatively short notice! Nothing is too much trouble for the cheerful, helpful staff and the menu is comprehsive. Luckily for us, distance is no problem as we live in a nearby village and we will be visiting the wheatsheat on a regular basis.

Heard this place was ok, so went with the wife for a Sunday lunchtime pint & some grub.
A genuine country pub with good conversation, well kept beer & first rate food.
Most country inns claim to have this feel & quality but miss the mark by some distance.
Congratulations to the landlord & his staff, keep it up.

Wonderful food, accommodation. Rooms are bight and clean, always lots of hot water for bath and shower . Best of all is the wonderful warm hospitality.
It is always a good sign when the locals eat there, and come in for that pint on the way home. Being on my own, I never felt uncomfortable in the bar having a drink and evening meal. By the way, I highly recommend the muscles. Sooooo good !
The pub has tons of charm, and has all the English country pub ambiance you could wish for.

Never written a review on Trip Advisor before but the amazingly friendly, welcoming service we received at this pub for Sunday lunch was so unusual nowadays I had to put pen to paper! Food wonderful and the landlord made my dad feel so special on his 88th birthday! Nowadays that is rare where one can feel invisible. Will recommend to friends and family.

I had originally booked here for one night but decided to stay for a second. The Wheatsheaf, in a small village separate from the hustle and bustle of Haslemere, is a delight. It is also a good base for touring some of the many sights of the area, including Petworth House, Bodiam Castle and Sheffield Gardens.
My room was compact but comfortable and well equipped. The en suite shower, unlike many in this country, did not impose heavy engineering demands on the user and hot water was plentiful. There is some noise from the pub, but it shuts down at 11.
Ken is a most welcoming and gracious host and he also offers superior food in the pub and restaurant. There is a set dinner menu, two courses for 11.95, three for 14.95, which is excellent value. I ordered the soup and hake and chips my first night — both excellent with the fish freshly cooked and not soggy.
The following evening, I ordered from the blackboard — superb liver pate and chicken diane. I should add that the wine list was varied and fair.
The full English breakfast was beautifully prepared and sufficient to carry me through the day. I can't recommend this pub restaurant with rooms too highly.
