“Manor House Hotel”
Reviewed October 10, 2011

A very nice hotel with staff that couldn't be any more helpful. The Manor House Hotel would make a great wedding venue and is very well priced. I didn't use the restaurant as i arrived too late but the facility looked well used.overall i would re book this hotel again and make the most of the facilities on offer by arriving earlier.

Last weekend we had a 'Triple Celebration' (25th wedding anniversary, 18th birthday party and 50th birthday) at this hotel. After reading some of the previous reviews I was a little concerned, however I needed have been. The staff at the hotel are first rate and can't help you enough. We had the use of three rooms for the party all for the price of £500. All rooms were superb and looked great when we added our own flowers, candles, balloons etc. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Yes this hotel is not all shiny and new but why does everything have to be the same these days?? They served 100 guests with ease - very tasty hot food on hot plates - perfect! Thanks to all at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for room 5 - it has a lovely little sitting area.

From the moment we arrived the staff, who were all particularly friendly and polite, couldn't do enough for us.We arrived early.at about 11am,but our room was ready and we could go straight to it.The room was both comfortable and very spacious. The food was excellent with large portions. The hotel has excellent facilities and we used the pool, gym, sauna and steam room.the pool is set in a particularly pretty oriental setting. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and further enhanced by the two peacocks strolling around, happily waiting to be feed with crumbs. Our two night stay was a joy,the only disappointment we found was that we were unable to book a massage when we arrived as they were fully booked,so it might have been useful if we had been advised to book treatments well in advance of arriving at the hotel. However this did not spoil what was a wonderful stay.Keep up the good work, and a very big thank you to all the excellent staff!Jenny & Steve

We Had a nice time but found the room so small for two the floor space was about 12 X 10 but at the top it was only 6 X 12. also found out that you had to book for lunch before you stay but was not told this at the time. the meals we had was ok and the service from the staff was also good. Car parking was ok but if your a blue badge holder you need to give this a miss you could have to walk a long way and no lift just loads of stairs.

Room Tip: ask for a good size room and book meals at time of booking. Blue badge holder need to give this a mi...

Firstly the hotel is in a great country location opposite New Lands Corner. On arrival I visited reception to check-in to my pre-booked double room. The staff were very friendly and were able to assist with my requests. I then proceeded to the room. It was in a quiet part of the hotel and was comfortable but I couldn’t help thinking that the whole place was in need of some renovation. It was all a bit tired and in need of some TLC. Everywhere was clean as far as I could tell. I then ordered room service but sadly the description didn’t match what was actually given to me and was very disappointing. I was staying at the hotel for a wedding that evening which went very well and all had a good time.

The next morning after a good night’s sleep I went down for breakfast which was buffet style and was nice especially the sausages. The only thing I would like to point out is one of the high chairs used by my God Son was in need of a very good clean or replacement. Dry food was found all of it. The hotel has a very nice pool so I hoped to take my God Daughter swimming which she was very excited about. On the door of the spa was a sign which stated that no children were allowed in the pool after 10am. I asked a member of staff if this included people who had paid for a room and she said yes. This is very bad and really put a downer on the stay. It appears that they care more about external members of the spa than people who are actually staying in the hotel. Why have a swimming pool if families with children are unable to use it between 10am and 2pm. We had to check out of the room at 11am so we weren’t going to be at the hotel at 2pm. One very unhappy God Daughter.

After that disappointment we packed up our things and checked out. Once again the staff on reception were friendly and helpful.

So to summarise the hotel is in a great location in lovely countryside, the staff are friendly and seem to have a good setup for weddings. The only down points are that the entire hotel is in need of some renovation which could bring it up to a 4* level. Other hotels in the area are already at that level. The spa could be made more accessible to people who are actually staying in the hotel and they could care less about external members. The food could be easily improved to bring it up to 4* level which would make the restaurant take in more money because it wasn’t very busy at all.

Room Tip: Rooms 31, 32 and 33 are in a quiet part of the hotel.

Only needed this hotel as a bed for the night. We arrived at 11:30pm and the staff were very helpful when we called to make sure it wasn't a problem checking in and the night porter was really friendly. We went straight up to the room and it was clean and efficient with everything we needed. I had a shower in the morning which was hot and powerful! We didn't have breakfast though as we left again. I read the hotel history in the room and was slightly creeped out by the fact it used to be a hospital during the war and there was talk of the rooms being haunted. Not sure I would have liked to have been staying here by myself!

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at The Manor House Hotel you made our special day a truly amazing one. The staff could not do enough for us and were very kind. The rooms were lovely and very spacious and clean. Parking is a bonus and the access for our older relatives was brilliant which meant they could join in the whole event. The food was excellent and plentiful and good value for money.

We were so glad we could have the ceremony outside with you and this made the day even more special.

Thank you again so very much and we look forward to seeing you on our first wedding anniversary next year as we will be back.

We would recommend this venue to anyone.

Room Tip: Room 1 or 45 were beautiful, spacious and 45 had an amazing spa bath.
