This NT property is tenanted and so the house is not open until 2 pm. There are six rooms packed with paintings, pianos and harpsichords. There are ample volunteers to give you information as you walk around the house. There is an introductory talk at the door before you walk around.
We arrived just after two and there was a queue waiting to go round. We opted to go around the house in reverse but if we had known about the two o’clock opening time we would have gone a little later.
There are a number of walks around the beautiful grounds ranging from very short to about three miles. The paths are well marked - we were there on a sunny day. It was very enjoyable.
There are also good facilities for children. The front lawn has about 20 space hoppers waiting to be bounced and there is a quite unique play area in the middle of the wood. There is a maze, balancing beams and an incredible tree house hidden under the branches of the rood.

We new Hatchlands Park would on the country house style and so it was, outside of the house not a great deal to see, great if you like walks, the house is furnished beautifully, with a lot of keyboard instruments in every room and fantastic paintings but not a lot of family history to hold your interest ( I felt) well kept tea rooms etc. Good for a couple of hours.

This is an excellent NT property with extensive walks & attractive pond. Lovely Stables cafe with cream teas, just right for such a sunny day.

The walls are full of portraits - many by leading artists such as large ones of James II and his wife - but especially the earliest and original portrait of William Shakespear. Throughout the house there are harpsichords and pianos from 1622 onwards, many owned or played by leading composers. The house was built be Admiral Boscawen - a hero of the Royal Naval victories over France.

There are also 400 acres of lovely parkland to explore - rides for children on ponies up to age 10, and an adventure wood for children.
