Description: The White Hart is a beautiful 16th century British pub, just of the Wood Street Village green. Our team of 7 chefs cater for all tastes with a large menu and daily specials. A lovely fire greats you as soon as you walk into the oak beamed bar area, with a large heated patio and garden at the front of the pub.

Highly recommended by our B&B host, this restaurant more than met our expectations. Quite a nice menu, we selected pizza and really enjoyed the unique ingredients.

Probably the best pub food around guildford. Friendly staff, really nice atmosphre especially in the garden on a sunny day. And the toilets are immaculate; that's in comparison with most of the pubs in uk

I ate here on Saturday evening with friends. The whole pub and restaurant was absolutely buzzing all evening, but this did not detract from the customer service, although the staff were very busy. Our drinks order was taken quickly and ample time was allowed for us to chat whilst selecting our choices off the menu.

There was a good selection on the menu. The food was beautiful, piping hot, well presented and tasted gorgeous, although the pil pil was not as one of my friends expected, it was still good. The gaps between courses was just right, to ensure that we were not rushed and were able to savour our respective meals.

Parking is an issue and understandably the local residents are not happy with their road being blocked by cars as this prevents emergency service access to them should it be needed so park out on the road around the green and walk the few hundred yards to the pub.

Going to the White Hart is always a bit of an adventure, as you can't be certain what you're going to find. The latest visit revealed yet another apparent change of direction with the cuisine. The prices also seemed to have gone up. £8-16 for a starter is quite a lot for what is 'au fond' a pub, Similarly the wine list, which was interestingly presented, got up as high as £55. On the plus side, there were signs of excellence in the starters (really nice sauce with chicken livers), but defects in the main course (heavily battered haddock, clumsy portion of risotto).

A couple of final thoughts: at least it's not a bland restaurant chain, but you should try its namesake down the road in Pirbright - I think it's more consistent.
