“Too busy for it's own good!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

It began with the rustic bread to start which turned out to be toasted chunks of yesterday's bread with a sauce and roast garlic bulbs. It continued with my wife's fish choice not being available which was substituted by lamb dish where the lamb was rather tough and dominated by dauphinoise potato. Further problems arose when the vegetable side dish failed to arrive and my grilled sole turned out to be not fillets but a baby fish which I suspect should have been thrown back into the sea to grow up.The deserts were average. What was good? The Rioja, the waitress and the relative speed of delivery. I left with a headache caused by a noisy party of 14,literally a few feet away, and the permanent stream of traffic to the toilets immediately behind my seat. At £66 for 2 on a Saturday evening it's not something I wish to repeat.

“Pleasant mid week dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

Called in one evening mid week and was pleased to see the place busy. Our party of four were quickly and pleasantly seated and provided with a drink. A good range of tempting dishes and we all partook of something different as a main course. All very tasty, well cooked and presented. No great wait either given numbers eating. Reasonable prices..... Came away very happy.

“Restaurant of choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

The seahorse has moved with the times and from a country drinking pub in the 70/80s', it is now a quality restaurant and pub. The food is of a high standard with both traditional dishes and from further afield. Prices are perhaps a little steep, but one does not compromise on setting or quality of meal. There is always a good turn-around and one is rarely left waiting, though that would not necessarily be a problem because the ambiance is lovely and the bar forms a centrepiece which is easily accessed. I tend to always go for the steaks, which are cooked to order and always delicious. The squid as a starter is also perfect (though could be a little more generous as a starter). The Seahorse is on an equal footing to the Red Lion in Shamley Green and few other pubs in the area come close.

“Really friendly with excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

My wife and I went to The Seahorse for lunch yesterday. The staff were very friendly and attentive especially Tomek, He explained the menu and got us the recipe for the curried parsnip soup, nothing was too much trouble. The front of house was extremely nice and knowledgeable but unfortunately he appeared a little unkempt which was a shame.
Janine had the soup and I had the pork chop, the best I have had since Spain several years ago.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to anyone.
