“Perfect location and atmosphere but food was nothing special”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

Had lunch here during a day trout fishing at the local lakes. Good beer and a lovely couple of hours in the garden. The food was not special - my pie was unexciting and my companion's pork was quantity and not quality. A bit of thought on the food front and the rating could easily be very good.

This hotel was a really good place for a wonderful walking weekend. It is more of a pub with rooms and the building is old so the floors slope and there is some road noise at the front. Furnishings are on the slightly faded sight but more importantly all the basics are very good. Comfortable beds, good linens, TV, WiFi, tea and coffee and, a nice touch, small bottles of water.

We had two rooms, one had a lovely new bathroom and the other was a bit old.but fine.

We liked the restaurant which was comfortably busy and both the evening meal and the breakfast were really good with enormous portions. The staff were all very welcoming. Recommended.

The rooms are dated and old with work needed really, but the hotel/pub is clean and tidy and the staff are super helpful so it is worth a visit. It is a bit busy at the front of the hotel though so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back of the hotel. Finally the wifi is rather hit and miss in the rooms so dont rely on it

Five families walked to the Drummond Arms for lunch having only booked on that morning. The 27 of us ( and four dogs) were warmly welcomed, the service was efficient and very friendly and the food was great. The staff went out of their way to accomadate us and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you.

As a lone female staying overnight on business, it was a pleasure to stay at the Drummond Arms. The staff were polite, friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. The food was delicious, the rooms clean and good value for money. Thank you for making my short stay such a pleasant one.

Visited the Drummond for tea on Sunday, and wasn't disappointed. Haven't visited the area before and had to rely on feedback from Trip Advisor. There was a burger evening and was happy with the quality and value.

This isn't the fault of the Drummond, but as a northerner, I do find the beer warm and flat, which was a shame because they had some decent real ales on the bar.

Would definitely go again though

We chose this as it was close to my brothers . We paid £150 for two nights b and b in a double room . Even as you walk in it just feels warm , friendly and cosy. There was a friendly greeting . All the staff were friendly throughout our stay. There are wood beams and log fires , just loved it .The room was just as warm and inviting and comfortable . .There was tv and kettle etc . The bathroom was quite large , the shower a bit of a challenge but was fine . The floor sloped which was bizarre but added to the character. The one down side is that the room overlooked a busy road which was a bit noisy but thats the worst thing and not a problem
There was a small stream at the bottom of the beer garden which made sitting out a pleasant experience even at the end of October at 10pm
The food was lovely , breakfast was fresh cooked and quite tasty . You ate this in the conservatory overlooking the garden . Again a pleasant experience. We had an evening meal once in the restaurant .All seven of us enjoyed all the food served and at a reasonable price . There is a board in the bar telling you which of the local traders supplied which food , a nice touch. Even some of the wine is locally produced and went down well . Have i mentioned the traditional hand pulled ales , they are nice as well
All in all its not perfect but it goes a bloody long way towards it , loved the two days we were there and will be back
