We used this restaurant to meet-up with friends and had an excellent lunchtime meal in a quiet environment where we could talk easily.
The pub, the menu and the waiters are very old fashioned in a surprising but good way. It seemed very retro but not in any ironic, prissy fashion. I couldn't quite believe how much silver service was used to serve the food.
The food was excellent but I guess not cheap - we all 4 had a main course, a pudding, and a coffee each with a bottle of fizzy water, one glass of wine and a beer between us and with service it came to appr £30 each. The service in the bar and restaurant was excellent and there was clearly a management/owner presence, which I like. We went on a quiet winter's lunchtime and I guess it must be different in the summer, given its location and garden seating, but I would like to return.
Only one moan; I don't like menus where main courses have no veg, it has to be ordered separately and costs far more than it should. We were persuaded to have a selection and, though it was a good mix of 4 and plenty of them, we had no idea at the time of ordering what they cost and didn't.t think to summon back the menu and check.
