I visited Leith Hill regularly when I lived nearby and it was always a favourite with the most beautiful scenery and quiet, well-signposted walks, though I'd recommend taking a map and compass as the area is so huge. The pubs are good too, though it's best to book if you want to have a Sunday lunch. a particular delight is Leith Hill Tower with its tiny café and home-made cakes..

This is a great tower to climb. There are good views from the top - stunning in good weather. National Trust members do not have to pay for entry, of course. There is a little cafe at the base of the tower (all seating is outside however) with home-made cakes that are made offsite and driven up to the tower in a van each day. We met the van one day on the track leading to the tower. There are walks all around the tower. The tracks do get very muddy in wet weather, and some of them are quite steep.

I've been here a few times with my partner and even with a colleague from work as it makes a change from eating lunch in the office. The little tea bar is a great bonus - the lady there makes lovely sandwiches and good tea/coffee.
If you can get up the tower, the views are well worth the minimal ticket price. On a good day you can easily see over to London and beyond.
The surrounding forests are beautiful and usually quiet if you fancy a stroll on your own.
A recommended site to visit for sure!

I've lived at the foot of Leith Hill all my life and for many years kept horses to ride over it. Now my knees are too old for riding, I really miss being out in the beech woods at this time of year, when they're a carpet of russet leaves. Riding up the Duke's Warren (racing other horsey friends) is the best fun in the world. I can thoroughly recommend Rick's Crooked Furrow home brew at the Plough Inn, Coldharbour. Leith Hill Place is going to be wonderful to visit, once the National Trust have renovated it - no small job.

One of the most beautiful view i've seen. Fun fact: If you look at East, the next tallest point what you can see is the Ural!
