Very secluded hostel. Two ways of getting there by foot - no cars allowed. One from main road is about 1 mile and goes downhill ( uphill on the way back!) The other a bit shorter & goes thru a valley then up a very poor dirt track on he way to Polesden Lacey Not so good in winter when lots of mud. Heating includes a wood fire. Rooms have low ceilings; Kitchen is well served. No where secure to really store bikes. A fun place to visit to forget about cares and worries

We only stayed a night here but it was excellent. Beautiful setting; the surrounding area is lovely, lots of scenic walks around. The campsite itself is down a long track that I imagine is a bit inaccessible in the winter months, and as you aren't allowed to leave your car down overnight it has to been driven to the top of the hill (about 1km, probably a bit less), and then walk back down. The campsite is right of the lodge (which looks beautiful and we were nearly tempted to stay there), located in woodland. This meant it took some time finding suitable tent locations due to tree stumps but was fine. Facilities were excellent, all eco-friendly and SO clean, probably one of the cleanest I've seen. The only down side was there was a loud party at the opposite end of the campsite who kept us up a bit, but that was it, perhaps a curfew could be introduced. Recommended for anyone who likes the back-to-basics camping, not luxurious, but good fun!! Should also double check the postcode before arriving as we drove to Polesden Lacey and thats not right!

I stayed in this beautiful traditional hostel with a friend in the Spring. We hiked in from Box Hill and Westhumble station, which was a couple of miles away (3/4 of the way on a country road, the last bit through a field and up a rough track). The hostel building is a beautiful cottage, set in woodland and fields leading to Polesden Lacey stately home.
There is a beautiful fireplace in the communal lounge, a practical kitchen, a small dining room, two dorms and outside toilets and showers. The dorms are up in the attic, and I could imagine they could feel a little cramped and hot when full. When I stayed, there was just one other female guest in our dorm, and one male guest in the other dorm. There are some triple bunks, double bunks and one single bed. The room had heating and was warm enough when we were there. There is a sink in the room, but toilets are all outside. Clean linens were provided as usual in YHAs, the duvets were in good condition and the facilities were clean. The showers were hot and in individual cubicles with lockable doors. I could see a sort of lean to shed thing for bike storage. There were no locker facilities that I could see, but in such a small hostel, this probably wouldn't be practical.
My friend and did some nice walking from the hostel. We walked back towards the station for a pub meal, and took a taxi back to the end of the road. I believe there is parking closer to the hostel, but you still have to walk through the wood. Make sure you bring a torch for nighttime bathroom trips - I'd strongly recommend arriving during the day, so you can find your way more easily. There was a volunteer warden who was there for a week or two. Check in and check out were no problem.
