A great location in Dorking Town near Dorking Halls so perfect for a pre theatre meal however the ambience is sadly lacking. It's too clinical and bright, they need to soften the edges with some cushioned seating and lower the lighting - operating theatres aren't that bright! The food is good and reasonably priced with service to match.

“So bad, you'll think you're in some sort of comedy sketch”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

I've tried it twice and it's beyond awful. The place looks good from the outside but don't be fooled. The pasta tastes like it was left from last night and reheated, like baby food. Everything else is just not good. Given that you can spend the same sort of money for food quality as good as somewhere like Jamie's Italian, why would anyone spend money in Ask!

“ASKITALIAN contempory feel and relaxed, friendly service.”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

My husband and I visited AskItalian on March 3rd at 6.30pm before going to the theatre.
Very handy eatery for Dorking Halls, 3 min walk away.
We had not booked and after being greeted immediately, were invited to choose a table.
The decor is fresh, clean and contempory. Some cushioned seats and some hard and includes
some booths.
We ordered a chicken pizza and ricotta and spinach ravioli. Both really hot and we didn't wait very long. You can see the chefs prepare your meal as working kitchen is in the restaurant.
Staff were friendly, helpful and non intrusive.
There are a number of vegetarian dishes including Caprina ,Margherita and Verdure pizzas,
plus, spaghetti al pomodoro and linguine alla genovese + others. Nice to have a few options as I often only have one or two choices.
Some pasta dishes can be made with organic gluten free fusilli pasta, although they can't guarantee non contamination of gluten or nuts as those allergens are present in the kitchen. We didn't have a dessert but these include Tiramisu, Honeycomb cheesecake and lemon tart ( first two are vege) + others.
The toilets are up stairs ( I didn't see any on lower level so best to check) and are quite a walk away.
All in all a nice visit ,and a restaurant we shall certainly be going to before future theatre trips.

“awful, not worth the money”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

We've visited once, that was quite enough!
We were very disappointed about the prices compared to food quantily and quality.
Staff were pleasant enough, but that did not make up for the disappointing food.
Facilities were fine, but it was style over content.

Its consistently good - the food is great, the staff are friendly and the place has a nice buzz about it. It beats Pizza Express every time.
