Description: Imagine a chocolate box style village pub, beaming with pinkness with a rainbow of flowers around the door. You have just painted an image of the Fox at Newbourne. The pub is a wonderful 16th century building set in pretty grounds.

Whether you are looking for an evening meal, lunch or a drink outside in the lovely garden The Fox is the place to go.

We have visited The Fox on several occasions, it is the perfect place to stop whilst out walking or in our case on the bikes. The service is good and the food gorgeous.

Just like a picture on a postcard of your typical country pub the newbourne fox is a delight to arrive at, well stocked beers and a friendly welcome ensures that you will have a good time. theirs a separate restaurant or your welcome to dine in the bar area. we have been there many times and we have never had a bad meal yet. 10/10. good home cooking and a warm welcome, what more do you need.

We stayed at accommodation next door to the fox inn as handy to just walk there for our evening meals. We were not disappointed, we found Nell and Brian lovely people and the food was excellent, as previous reviewer the menu may seem old fashioned but Brian adds a little extra twist which is great. It is best to reserve a table as quite popular Thursday/Fri/sat nights. We both tried a different meal each night and could not fault anything. We had lovely evenings there with the locals and would go back just to meet up with everyone again!
Keep up the good work Nell and Brian !

The Fox Inn is a fifteen minute drive from our home in Suffolk, and we have eaten there regularly over the years, usually after taking a gorgeous walk through nearby Newbourn Springs. It's housed in an ancient Suffolk building with great atmosphere in a superb location. It's worth it for that, even though we've always thought the food rather average for what it promises.

We visited today when a Wake (post-funeral gathering) was being held there, and, concerned that there might be a delay it getting food served, was advised by the gentleman behind the bar who seemed to be the duty manager that the Wake party was only taking drinks from a private area and that there would be no delays. I ordered soup and bread, my wife ordered quiche with boiled potatoes and salad. After half an hour we had still not been served this relatively simple order. We asked a waitress about our order and she went off to find out. She came back and very apologetically explained that the order had not been passed through to the kitchen by, we presume, the duty manager. We were then served within 10-minutes, while the duty manager chatted away to another customer just a few feet away from us, taking no notice of what had happened.

We felt it should have been him, not the waitress, who should have apologised to us and, at the very least, offered us a free drink or discount as compensation. But we had already paid (before eating) to avoid having to wait while other customers ordered food or were waiting to settle their bills. That was a mistake.

We will probably go there for a drink again (after our walk), but it's very unlikely, after this experience, that will eat there again. Shame really. Nice place, and we've been regular and loyal customers. But the lack of customer focus and attention (they weren't hugely busy, even with the Wake) was unacceptable.

We rang to ask if open on bank holiday, the landlady booked us a table and we received a warm welcome on arrival. Great selection on menu and cooked to perfection. My partner had a huge slice of pie with pastry to die for and lots of thick tasty gravy to accompany the vegetables. He said it was the best he had ever tasted! After our mains, we went outside for a break and unrushed, we came back in to share a dessert which was equally delicious and the presentation was beautiful, followed by coffee and mints and then we went back outside to enjoy a glass of wine and the sunshine. Nell and Brian came out and joined us, as did other locals and we had a wonderful afternoon with them all. I cannot wait to go back.
