A great old , very friendly, pub. Unusually, it has many of the traditional pub games. Bar Billiards, skittles etc etc. Great food with plenty of choice.
It has saved it's traditional charm, unlike many pubs that have 'modernised'.
I loved the place.

Food was average with nothing out of the ordinary on the menu but staff pleasant enough. The decor was interesting though. Will visit again sometime.

I visited this establishment with my husband and family on Bank Holiday Monday on a family day out with the intention of enjoying a pleasant lunch in the restaurant.Unfortunately, we were refused entry, as our party included a young baby. We offered to leave the pushchair outside and carry the baby, either in our arms, or in her carseat, but this was also unacceptable to the member of staff. He wasn't even pleasant and polite in refusing our entry. As we were leaving, another family were walking in with a baby, probably to receive the same 'welcome'. We will certainly give this establishment a wide berth in future! We eventually went to the Wilford Bridge in Melton, where we received a much warmer welcome and a lovely meal, which made up for the cold reception and rudeness at Ye Olde Bell and Steelyard

Came here for lunch on very cold day. Pub was warm & welcoming . Enjoyed the tasty home cooked food. Your dog will also be welcome here as it's a very dog friendly pub, with owners dogs wandering round. Nice relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent service, staff are very welcoming. Wide choice of proper beers. The new team have reinvigorated the place. Great food probably best to book.
