The price for entry to this attraction was about £7.50 per adult but if your canny get the leaflets from the Tourist Information Centre or the caravan park you are staying at as they usually have pay one adult get one free type tokens in them which come in handy.
This attraction is ko but you really have to be into the Saxon type of history to enjoy it, there are burial mounds there and that is what they looked like to me, hills, i am not ignorant but could not get that excited by it, the house you visit is only on one floor as upstairs is holiday lets, the house had some interesting things in it and a lot of wedding dresses through the ages, not my cup of tea, then you have the main building which is modern looking with all eminities needed and another part which includes some Saxon artefacts, this is for the right sort of person to visit.

“History at your feet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

Sutton Hoo is fabulously atmospheric - whatever the time of year the wind whistles eerily through the trees as you walk to the site of the mounds and around them. You cannot fail to be impressed by the thought of the burials and the history. The museum is really interesting, starting with the film and followed by the information and aretefacts and the replica burial boat. The cafe has a great choice of well priced food and drink and the picnic area is great but needs a little shade. the house was open and worth a look round but it's only a couple of rooms not the whole place as we expected. It's also worth a drive to the end of the road to the scenic little harbour.
A great half day visit or day visit if you do the extra walks - well worth it.

“evocative”

visited Sutton Hoo for the first time in May this year. Really enjoyed its 2 faces, the ancient, with the excellent display and information about the archaeological finds, and the more modern with Tranmer House - and great that the NT is becoming more touchy-feely wth the exhibits. Enjoyed the small display of wedding dresses!

Visited a couple of times. Great family day out. Went on the afternoon tour that is designed for children, but also lots of information for adults. Had lunch in the cafe. Enjoyed to gift shop and the kids play area.

“Faaaaaaaantastic”

A great guide in a Lady called Kate, thorough explanation of all we needed to know with a little humour, first class job. You could afford to miss the trip around the house out if you are pushed for time. You do need to have an interest in history as if you haven't you may as well go elsewhere. If you do want to know more about your own history and the history of this country get stuck right in.
