“quick excellent supper”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

We ate here with friends at the last minute as other arrangements has gone awry. Our welcome was warm and the service and food were excellent in every way. if we were local, it would definitely be a regular place to eat and drink. The fish (it was 'fish week') was locally sourced and superbly cooked. We will definitely revisit when next in east Anglia.

“Tasty food - comfy pub”

Warm welcome, well kept beers and an interesting menu. Very good cooking, good ingredients and very well flavoured. Puddings especially good!

“Nice ambience, good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

We visited the pub after a brisk winters dog walk from Framlingham. We were perished but they provided us with an excellent hot bowl of home made soup and crusty bread which hit the spot. We enjoyed the feel of the place so much we suggested it as an ideal venue for our parents wedding anniversary meal - they didn't disappoint again. Worth a visit.

“Didn't live up to expectations!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

Decided to visit whilst on a family holiday in Suffolk after reading the review on here. I ordered the deep fried stuffed mushrooms followed by a steak. The mushrooms were over cooked & tasteless. I'd asked for the steak medium rare but alas it was also over cooked. The rest of my family thought their starters & main coureses were 'ok' but really enjoyed the strawberry cheesecake they'd ordered.

What really ticked me off was the service. Whilst initially very good we ended up being forgotten as we were in the bar (on our own apart from a couple of locals having a drink) & the resurant was obviously very busy.

A real shame because the restaurant itself is lovely in design & feel but in a very competitive market, service & above all quality of food is what counts. We visit Suffolk several times a year but won't be going out of our way to visit again.
