A spur of the moment idea to try the establishment for an evening meal (30th wedding aniversery ). We have a had a very good meal from the excellent menu with good service. The atmosphere was pleasant and homely, no back ground music, just people chatting and enjoying their meals. Value was reasonable and the food tasty. We has a starter and main course but could not finish the sweet. With drinks it came to about £25.00 per head. The only criticism was there appeared to be no standard dress for staff, lots of jeans to be seen let the place down

Went there with wife and 2 friends. Meals arived in good time. I ordered sirloin steak medium rare. It was well done. Then everyone had to wait for me to finish my meal because had to wait for mine to be recooked. We then ordered dessert but got fed up after waiting for 30 min. All in all a very poor experience.

We went here for lunch yesterday and it was lovely, on the whole. Especially as it was snowing hard outside and there was a lovely open fire. Despite the fact that they were busy, we were served promptly and our food came quickly. Just two let downs - my other half had ordered the roast turkey which was advertised to come with stuffing and a pig in blanket, niether of which arrived, and I really hate the sauce tray idea where they bring a tray of different sauces to you, you take some and then it's gone. I'd much prefer a small pot to myself or even sachets. Surely this would save the staff time too?

Normally no need to book. Comfortable and plenty of space. Food was good and well priced. You get served at the table now which is better than previous system. In general, consistently good value, satisfactory food at average prices. Most of the staff very friendly.
