“Fantastic Wedding Venue”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

My wife and I had our wedding and reception here on 9th August 2014 and from start to finish we had an amazing time. The organisation that went in from the day we first visited the venue through all the consultations and the big weekend itself was brilliant. The staff here are superb and nothing was too much to ask for - they really made our special day special. Even visiting the hotel on occasions in the past year the staff are always courteous and friendly, the food is excellent (you have to try the chips!) The spa is excellent with a range of saunas and steam rooms, relaxation rooms and a great spa pool, in addition to the spa they have various massage treatments, and again, this was brilliant - we had the hot stone massage with facial and foot massage which was so relaxing! Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay and excellent service and food throughout our stay and various visits previously. Highly recommended, for a one night stay, a spa break, or a wedding venue. The golf course also looks very picturesque and seems very popular.

My wife, our two teenagers and myself have just returned home after experiencing a great value for money 'Family Package' stay at Ufford Park. Right from the warm welcome at Reception through to the Restaurant Staff and to the young man who came and adjusted the hotel bicycles for us to use, every member of staff always had a smile for us and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot speak highly enough of them.
The food was excellent and there was plenty of it.
We had adjacent rooms and both were clean and tidy. The bathrooms were a little small, but that was the only slight minus.
We made good use of the leisure facilities(pool, sauna, steam room, cycles, croquet etc) and the complimentary three hour Spa visit was a great bonus for parents wanting a relaxing escape. We have stayed at several 4 and 5 star establishments over the years which have not impressed as much as this hotel.

Dear Simon
Thank you for your excellent review on your recent family inclusive break at Ufford Park - this fantastic value for money break has been something we have promoted over the Easter and Summer holidays for the last 2-3 years and they have always been very popular especially with younger families, so it was with great interest that we read your review about how great it was for teenagers too!!
We will certainly also pass on your high praise to all our staff re: Quality of food, extent of facilities on site, helpfulness of them all and the fact we were more impressive overall than some of the 4 and 5 star hotels you've stayed in before !!!! Wow !!
We very much look forward to seeing you and your family again very soon - perhaps for our inclusive Christmas break??

Best wishes

I have been staying at Ufford Park over the last few weeks while working locally. I have been in several bedrooms, the cleanliness can differ from room to room, and the quality of room service. The rooms need regular checks for items to be in good working order, I have had concerns with the shower, and television .
The restaurant is run by Stuart who is excellent, offering a first class and friendly service, the bar areas can be inconsistent with the quality of service, some staff okay but most look rather miserable, the bar areas can be untidy, not very clean and service slow. The quality of food is okay, nothing special and repetitive. The bar and restaurant have a problem with flies that are on food at times.
I have enjoyed my stay and been quite comfortable.
In my opinion if the hotel wants to make improvement they need to note comments from guests from the survey cards left in rooms.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a better room with a balcony

Dear Guest
Thank you for your comments and please be assured that we certainly do heed constructive comments from all our guests both from the questionaires in our bedrooms as well as review sites like this one. You will be pleased to know that we are in fact fully reviewing the management of our Housekeeping team at this very moment in time and are confident that you will notice a marked improvement in consistency next time you stay with us. We will also pass on your comments to the Head of Food & Beverage regarding bar service and staffing levels - thank you. With regards to flies we do our best to manage these pests but being located out in the country this makes our job even harder but we do actively keep coming up with ways to control them without affecting the quality for our guests.

Best wishes

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this good value hotel. It was as we expected for the price we paid but the staff really made it excellent. They were friendly professional and listened to us. The maître d in the restaurant was superb at his job and the other staff were all excellent with just the right amount of attention without being pretentious. The food in the restaurant was good value. Pleasant meals well cooked but nothing to 'wow' you. Breakfast could be improved with the addition of more quality and quantity of pastries and bread rolls...just sliced bread and half a dozen croissants and pain au chocolat was not inspiring. The cooked breakfast was fine. We had a superior room overlooking the golf course and fountain (away from the bar) which was quiet at night. We were able to leave the balcony door open all night in the warm end of July weather. The standard rooms looked small and did not have a balcony. If you stay here its worth the little extra for the better room. We were very pleased with the 2 mile perimeter walk that the hotel has developed around the golf course and walked this easily as we don't play golf. The grounds are lovely and well kept. The hotel is in a good location. I wanted to use the spa and pool but unfortunately the woman whom I asked to give me details at the spa reception was not very helpful and was the only member of staff whom I felt let the staff down. I felt she was antagonistic and mardy. I therefore did not use the spa. Would we go there again? Yes definitely. This is not a really up market hotel but is wonderful value and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Superior rooms have balconies and doors overlooking the golf course. Ask for a quiet one away from t...

Dear Jan
We were pleased to read that you felt your 3 night stay was great value for money but it was our staff in particular who made your stay ''Excellent''! Thank you so much and we will pass your comments on to them all. With regards to breakfast we will speak to our Head Chef to see if we can offer more choice for Patries & Breads. We also appreciate your honesty about paying a little extra if you want the views and balconies - it all depends on what our guests are staying for but we try and put them in the most appropriate rooms depending on lead in times. We were sorry however to read about your experience at our spa reception desk and will pass on these comments immediately to Fitness Express who manage both the Spa and Health Club for us, as this does seem very out of character.
We hope to see you and your husband again at Ufford Park soon.

Best wishes

Stayed at Ufford Park for business for 6 weeks. The hotel was nice enough, most of the staff were lovely, especially Lindsey or Louise (I forget her name!!) on reception, nothingwas too much trouble!
Restaurant staff could be a little more cheerful.

Rooms were basic, not always totally cleaned to my standard either (i did find a few toenails), also no air conditioning, most rooms I stayed in had velux windows, but as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, I didnt feel totally safe leaving them open.

The car park is quite big, plenty of spaces, and free.

The gym is okay, quite small and smells a little damp. Machines could do with updating. There is also a run track around the golf course which is really nice on a sunny night, approx 2 miles all the way around.

There are quite a few coach parties which take up a lot of room in the restaurant so be aware of this!

Wifi is free, but you have to log in approx every 30 minutes as it will close your connection constantly!

Room Tip: Facing the golf course.

Dear Lucy
Thank you for your comments and we will certainly look to improve the ''consistency'' of the cleanliness of our bedrooms as well as into the damp smell in the gym, as we have not been made aware of this before now. We were very pleased to read that you did find all our staff in particular Leanne (?) on reception, to be very helpful and friendly throughout your whole 6 week stay with us - we are very proud of them and they do regularly receive high praise for other guests, you only have to look through the numerous reviews below to see that.
Also something to be aware of for the future regarding our free WIFI - when you log on there are in fact currently 2 options - one is for just 30mins which you can use without putting in any passwords and the other is unlimited time, which you DO need to log into. The user name and password for this is available on reception or you can ask any member of staff for it, then it will not keep timing you out. Also we are sure you will be very pleased to know that we are starting a refurbishment plan for our bedrooms starting this winter, so we are confident when you next stay with us on business you will start to see the improvements we are making, yet still offering the same excellent value for money.

Best wishes

We have been travelling to and fro from Suffolk for 30 years + as we have family in that part of the world. We have stayed in what seems like every B&B and Premier Inn in the area and have always been quite well served. The Ufford Park was always on the 'too posh/too expensive' list so we've never bothered to look at it very closely.

On this occasion it came up on our TA search and the price was very comparable (in fact £18 per night cheaper than Premier Inn) and it was closer to our family. So we booked and were pleasantly surprised. Super booking process on-line (we did it direct with via the hotel site - not through any of the Trivago/Late Rooms type sites). Reception was, again, super efficient and the staff were sooo helpful and friendly. Really good.

We had a twin room on the ground floor and it was perfectly adequate. Clean, well-equipped, comfy. The hotel was busy (we stayed Friday night and Saturday night - big wedding on the Saturday) but noise was not an issue. We looked out on to the putting green and some people were out there quite early on the Saturday (like, 0715!!) and they were chatting and laughing but, in reality, it's a golf hotel so it can be expected.

We only ate breakfast in the hotel but the way in which we were greeted was outstanding - really nice. Efficient staff clearing the tables etc. Help yourself style rather than waitress service. I had haddock on both days and it is cooked fresh so was stunningly hot and utterly beautiful - some of the best I've ever had.

We will certainly stay again. It was, as I've indicated, a bit of a surprise. The hotel is now back in family ownership and you can tell. There is a 'we are in this together' atmosphere with the staff rather than 'we just work here'. So, if your view of this place is more than a year old I would urge you to give it another try. Like us, you may be very surprised.

Dear Roger
Thank you for your review - we were especially pleased to read that this was your first stay with us before despite your many visits to Suffolk in the past - we do our best to market the property as good value for money and a top quality 3 star product but it is only when you actually walk through the doors that you truely appreciate our product, the quality of our staff, our value for money and of course the fact that we are not too posh or stuffy but a family run and owned welcoming hotel. Just to clarify too we have been owned by the same family for the last 22 years but did move away from the branding umbrella of Best Western 18 months ago so that may be why you thought we had changed hands.
We hope now you have discovered us you will stay with us everytime you visit your family from now on - they might even like to come over and join you for a swim, a bit of golf or just for a delicious Afternoon Tea ??? (all our facilities are open to non residents)

We look forward to welcoming you back again very soon
Best wishes

Had a 3 night break to explore a bit of Suffolk. Had a superior room overlooking the golf course with a lovely viewWould recommend this kind of room as the standard room looked small and had no view. It was hot at night but with the balcony door open and fan on it was Ok. The outstanding thing about the stay was the staff who were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The maître d was very professional and clearly runs a tight ship. The food in the restaurant was good but a bit ordinary. . Always a few things that could be improved which we mentioned at check out. Overall a very good stay and value for money. We really enjoyed the stay and may return.

Room Tip: superior room overlooking the golf course

Thank you for your wonderful review - we hope you enjoyed your exploration of Suffolk - it is a beautiful county with so much to see and do. We do actually hire out bikes so next time you can have an even more leisurely explore - Rendlesham Forest is only 5 miles away! Thank you for your comments about our 'Outstanding Staff' and our professional Maitre'D - we will pass these onto them all, as well as your opinion that we were very good value for money so much so you would certainly return! We look forward to that.
