“Amazing food and lovely location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

My family and I went to Seckford Hall for a celebratory meal on the weekend, we were in the 1530 restaurant in the main hotel building. Despite the restaurant being busy with a function and a private wedding party happening elsewhere, the service was very good and the food was amazing. There was a wide range on the menu including an option for vegetarians and it was all excellently prepared and elegantly presented. The food is a little pricey and the wine more so but for a special occasion it was brilliant and I would highly recommend it.

We stayed here in the Lower Granary for one night. We arrived early but were lucky to be able to get into the room which had not been used the previous night. The suite is huge - very comfortable lounge, four poster bedroom, a second bedroom with bunks for children, a small kitchen area and a big bathroom with a bath for 2 people. My little one wanted to move in and live there! There is a small but very useful swimming pool and a very small, not well equipped gym. We enjoyed drinks and our evening meal in the gardens rather than the restaurant. The only negative was that service in that area was very slow, no-one appeared to ask what we wanted so eventually we gave up and went to the bar ourselves. Once 'on the radar' the staff did check on us a regular intervals to see if we needed anything else. There is a good selection of light options or more formal 3 courses - all at reasonable prices. On a warm summer evening it is a perfect place to enjoy the peace and the surrounding views. This is a lovely hotel, I would highly recommend it.

I went to Seckford Hall for afternoon tea with my friend Donna Legge and our children, aged 7, 6 and 5. It was absolutely fantastic. The location is superb, the service some of the best I've experienced and the food brilliant. It is a hotel I can recommend to anyone!

How lovely to read your review of afternoon tea at Seckford Hall - it is also great for other reviewers to read as your party included children - a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a delicious tea in the grounds in the school holidays whilst the children can play!
See you soon at Seckford Hall
Best wishes

Stayed Saturday night with my wife for a romantic night away without the kids. Sadly would have been better spending the money elsewhere. Upon arrival the reception staff didn't seem a bit interested in checking us in, but would rather talk amongst themselves. Upon arrival at our room, we found the door couldn't be locked due to door not fitting in the frame. Decided to walk into Woodbridge for evening meal, with was a good choice, great food at The Duke Of York pub and excellent service. Upon returning to the hotel we decided to have a drink at the bar. However there was no staff to be seen. When eventually a young man appeared he didn't know what Port was, so I had to show him, and he then had to go and ask someone else the price. On Sunday morning we were awoken by the sound of two men who sounded like they were clearing furniture from the rooms either side, and talking very loudly about how would have to wait to "clear that room as there someone STILL in it". Once the lay in was ruined decided to have a shower, only to find there was no hot water. I stay in hotels a lot for business and had high hopes of what should be a 4 star hotel, however on this occasion I am afraid I feel robbed of the money, a Premier Inn would have given better service. We declined breakfast at £11 each far too much money.

I recently stayed for a weekend break at Seckford Hall, with my husband for, my birthday. This was our second visit, and again we were very impressed with the hotel and our stay. The venue is gorgeous, set in beautiful grounds and very close for visiting nearby Woodbridge and other local places of interest, such as Sutton Hoo.
We found that the staff were very pleasant, helpful and polite and that everywhere was clean and very comfortable. We love the restaurant and food here, can't fault anything.
I also enjoyed watching a wedding party and bride arrive, what a lovely venue for a wedding, it looked really special. Will be returning and bringing family and friends soon, to see the results of the renovation work. Thanks for a great stay.

Thank you for choosing Seckford Hall for your birthday celebrations 'Jackie O' and for taking the time to post your comments on your stay on this forum. We would love to see you back after our renovations are complete at the end of this month perhaps to enjoy a cocktail in the new champagne bar or afternoon tea in the new lounge overlooking the walled garden?

This was a great find for us and as we had my daughter and her cousin with us, the upgrade to the family room was perfect. Separate from the main hotel, but close to the pool, we had two rooms, lounge, balcony and the girls had their own bathroom! Made for a great weekend......

This is an old building so the floors are uneven, doors creak and there's no TV in the rooms....it's not a modern 5 star hotel but it's clean and pretty comfortable.

I do have to say that the grounds and the hotel looked magnificent but we didn't step inside other than to book in an pay the bill. So sadly I can't comment on the main hotel

We are already talking about returning with an extended family group as we thought it was such a great place.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a family "suite" if you have kids......

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mark Suddes and all the staff at Seckford Hall for making our daughter's wedding perfect. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. The event was expertly managed. Fantastic venue, great food and brilliant service from start to finish. And at the end of such a perfect day we collapsed into the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in. I think my daughter and I viewed every wedding venue in Suffolk. I now know we absolutely made the right choice.
