“As Good As It Gets!”
Reviewed February 15, 2011

If you are looking for a restful, peaceful, calm, and welcoming rural retreat, you will be hard pushed to find anywhere finer than this. The setting is charming, the hosts warm and welcoming, and the accommodation is very comfortable, stylish; a genuine expression of the owners’ tastes, it abounds with thoughtful touches such as a selection of herbal, black and green teas, filter coffee, and an artistic eye is apparent in the details such as the decorative coat hooks, vintage pieces of furniture with ornate replacement knobs and suchlike. The vaulted ceiling and exposed beams only serve to add to the character. In fact it looks just as it does on the web-site, warm and inviting.

The breakfast itself is superb; the best breakfast I have had in England. Firstly, it is served in the room which is a treat enough in itself, but it is the quality of produce, and again, those thoughtful, artistic touches which make it special; vintage silverware, some of the ceramic items handmade by Leah herself, homemade jams, beautifully fresh fruits, eggs from their own chickens, and not to mention a whole stack of Leah’s homemade pancakes!

Unusually for me I cannot fault this place, and am already counting down the days until my next stay there!!

We stayed three nights and enjoyed faultless friendly service from our charming hosts. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and had a pleasing individuality, the Granary being a self-contained building adjacent to the main house. The location is very convenient for Woodbridge, and makes a good base for exploring the attractions of the Suffolk coast and inland villages. The breakfasts were perfect for us, with freshly laid eggs, fresh fruits, home made granola and honeyed yoghurt. Our recommendation is unqualified.

The Granary, was an amazing suprise so close to Woodbridge. The room was beautifully classic, and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Leah and Julian are extremely friendly and went the extra lenght to make our wedding night special. We are local - and will be returning!!

We loved the seclusion of The Granary - a beautifully furnished bedroom with adjoining bathroom converted from a barn in the grounds of Leah and Julian's home. After a long journey in pouring rain we were glad to arrive and Leah's suggestions for eating out locally that evening were very welcome. We chose to eat at The Dog, a pub about 3 miles away and had the most delicious three course meal with wine for under £50. If you order before 6.30 p.m. there is 20% off the food price. It is extremely popular and it is best to book as most of the tables were reserved. After a very peaceful night's sleep, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast brought to our room by Julian and Leah - fresh fruit, creamy yoghurt, home made granola, croissants, toast, home made marmalade, fresh coffee and orange juice. The beautiful fabric rabbit and chicken egg cosies keeping the fresh boiled eggs warm, were delightful and brought back childhood memories of "egg in an egg cup" for breakfast - especially as the eggs were from Leah and Julian's chickens. We loved the artistic touches - the heart coat hooks, the bird motif on the towel ring, the painted ceramic tiles in the bathroom - I could go on! We would most certainly stay at The Granary again if we visit that part of Suffolk - Woodbridge itself is delightful and we enjoyed visiting Aldborough and Orford too. Try it for yourself and see!

We stayed at the Granary in June and were more than pleasantly surprised, especially given the price compared to other hotels and B&Bs that we had looked at in the area.
The hosts, Julian and Leah, were extremely welcoming and full of suggestions for places to visit nearby, the room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated and the location extremely peaceful. And need we mention the delicious breakfast, including home made granola and pancakes...

All in all a great location which we would definitely recommend to family and friends.
