My latest trip was a return visit and I wasn't disappointed. Everything was running like clockwork as usual!

I had my wedding reception here and the care and attention the hotel showed was remarkable. We met with them regularly throughout the planning process, even trying the food one evening all free of charge.

We had the use of the Guineas suite and spilled over into the bar, but this was not a problem for the hotel. We had discounted rooms for our guests staying over and they were all very happy with them.

The leisure centre was very nice and we had vouchers to use it in the month before the wedding which was a nice twist..........oh and I have to mention the hot chocolate in the bar on a cold evening in front of the roaring fire........idyllic!

Room Tip: The suites are very nice.......if you like quiet avoid racing days

This hotel is a must. Although very busy with a wedding, the service was good. Bar staff were stretched but still saw to our every need. A special thank you to Ildeko (excuse the spelling) who, even though suffering with a poorly foot, did not let this affect her warm welcome and top notch service.
Another special thank you to Katrina and Andy for their friendly welcome and smashing cup of tea early in the morning.
And last but not least to the management, it is so nice to return to a hotel that you have had excellent service at before and find that the standards have NOT slipped at all. Thank you all so much for a wonderful, restful stay and hope to see you soon.

Room Tip: On 2 previous occasions we had a suite (worth extra), this time a standard room which was excellent.

I was not expecting a lot from the Bedford Lodge, Selected originally for its location, a debate at booking over internet rates and a web site not working had led me not to expect much. What we found was a fantastic suprise. One of the best hotels I've stayed at in England. The initial greeting at reception, the room (a suite), the gym and best of all the restaurant and bar were all excellent. Every detail had been thought of. Most outstanding was the postiive and friendly attitude of the staff. The looked smart and acted smart. None of the usual bored indifference and scruffy appearance that can be found in many English hotels, particularly many chains.
We will return just to enjoy the hotel and its facilities.

Room Tip: The executive suites are excellent if you can get a good deal.

I arrived as part of a party to shoot the next day (clays not game..it's out of season dontcha know). The group of ten of us were staying, drinking and eating at the hotel and looking forward to a frothy and red-cheeked evening of meals, mirth and chuckles. In fairness, we did achieve this outcome in the most part but our meals were mind-bendingly late out of the kitchen due to a faulty fridge, so much so that chef sent us a thimble of pea soup to keep us quiet while he rescued his kitchen. To be fair once again, when the long awaited meals did arrive they were outstandingly good and I would use this hotel again on that basis as the rooms were of exceptional quality and the staff polite and helpful.

This is a good, smart, clean and crisp hotel and worth the money, the bar staff accommodated our very late night bend-ette with grace. Earlier in the evening a friend and fellow gun did have a moment with the bar manager who was to busy cashing up to serve drinks which is a management issue and should be managed with additional staff for the changeover.

Whatever shortcomings this place may have, they are few and fixable by effective management. I would and will stay here again and management, be fair to your staff and get a grip on the issues, the staff are not to blame.

I have not dined in the restaurant but on many occasions enjoyed meeting for business and in the bar area. The decor is excellent service really good and food delicious. When coffee is ordered it is serviced with delicious warm cookies and it is all good value for money.
