“Enjoyable pre Cruise Stay”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

Arrived about 4.30 pm after a long 6 hr drive, check in was smooth and efficient and swetened by being told that we had been upgraded to an exec. room.
The room was enormous with a king bed and enough furniture to equip a small flat.
As we only have a wet room the bath was a great luxury which we both enjoyed.
We booked dinner in the hotel and menus were presented while we relaxed in the Bar.
We chose Crispy Belly Pork which was excellent.
Breakfast in the morning was buffet style and all selections were hot with eggs cooked to order.
All in all a very pleasant stay.

No food after 7.00 pm on Sundays - don't arrive after a long journey - but, yes, they did cook something for us. Day 2 good breakfast, nice bacon and lovely sausages, but cheap tea that looked grey and tasted of nothing. Dinner OMG! what could go wrong went wrong. Cheap potatoes creating nasty chips, terrible fish - grey again - and it became so bad that, at least, they refunded the cost. We didn't eat their evening meals again! Chambermaids were good and washed up our bits for us. One breakfast waiter needs training, but we did lodge a complaint about his attitude and manner. Other waiting staff were very helpful and pleasant. Then we checked out - oh dear! She really does need to learn more about customer service, tone of voice and the importance of a smile. I felt like a naughty child.

We found this hotel very friendly, enjoyable and relaxing. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Pleasant, friendly and providing excellent service. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bathroom did need the ceiling paper replaced as it was coming unstuck. There was a good choice of food, which was delicious. We enjoyed being able to relax in the bar in the evening with family and friends. There is a bit of road noise and a garage nearby but wasn't really a problem.

What a lovely treat, on arrival we where told that we had been up graded to a larger room, the bedroom was very clean and spacious. The cotbed that we had requested was all ready set up with nice a clean bed linen. We had a lovely bar meal at the evening with lovely friendly staff. FANTASTIC would definitely stay again if in the aera. A little extra treat was seeing the race horses practice in the field behind the hotel on our departure.

First time in Newmarket for our party, myself, wife, son & daughter-in-law & their 17month old twin daughters. We decided to stop in Newmarket after visiting family in Diss as it's location is spot on for my sons journey south to London and our journey onto the Midlands.
We arrived to find we had been given a complementary upgrade. We both had the big rooms overlooking the front of the hotel. A pleasant surprise if ever.
We didn't eat in the hotel only because we wanted to see a bit of Newmarket and stretch our legs after considerable journeys made that same day.
The hotel struck me as being a little tired. Not unclean in any way, but a bit worn and jaded. However it was explained that the hotel was about to undergo a revamp, and it is not before time.
Staff were great and happy to accommodate the four of us & the twins at breakfast. Breakfast itself was very good, Nicely cooked and seemingly quality products.

It's not often we make the trip from the Midlands to Anglia but next time we do we shall again try to book in at The Best Western Heath Court Hotel & if the revamp has been completed the better still.

The standard double room we were allocated was very small - approx 4x3 mtrs - with lots of furniture. As a result, there was no room to store a suitcase or bag. There was no externally opening window, which made the room hot & stuffy, and when you turned on the air conditioning unit, it made a sound like it about to go on fire. The walls had external wiring on them, covered with plastic conduit, which gave the impression on a 1940s Nissen hut.
The bathroom was about half the size of the room but, yet again, had nowhere to store a toilet bag (or three like my wife has!). The was a shower head over the bath, with shower curtains, which personally I really dislike. The water pressure was pretty low which resulted in a pretty feeble spray of water.
On the plus side, breakfast was very good, with lots of choice, and one could request such things as eggs to be prepared personally for you.
On balance, not a great experience, certainly not for the price, and if I return to Newmarket in the future, I would look to stay somewhere else.
