We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights recently and booked to eat in the restaurant on the Saturday night. The restaurant is lovely and there was a pianist playing various popular songs in the minstrels gallery which was nice. However unlike another reviewer we were sat quite near to another couple with just a thin beam between the tables.Starter of pig's cheek with risotto was delicious but we had to wait an inordinately long time for it to come. Being offered yet another roll to fill the time isn't really the answer! In the end we had to ask how much longer it would be. Would suggest that if one of the waiters or managers had just come over and pro-actively told us that there was a delay and apologised it would have been better. Main courses came comparatively quickly but having ordered the venison which I was told in the bar when ordering was 'served medium is that alright' and having said yes fine, it was disappointing that it was in fact served well done (albeit still tender). Puddings were ok but nothing to write home about. Shame really because the rest of our stay at the hotel was lovely with very friendly, helpful staff and lovely rooms and a nice breakfast. Would rate as Good rather than Average or Very Good but no rating for Good so have put Average..
