“Birthday celebrations with friends and family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

We stayed at Blaize Barn to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends and family. The barn is advertised as 5* accommodation and 5* it is, from the luxury furnishings and bedding to the china. The barn has a wonderful feel and does not at all feel like a holiday rental but a home. As soon as we walked in to the warm cosy lounge it took our breath away, photos do not do it justice. A lovely welcome pack was provided. It's the little details that count , ie cling film and tin foil in the drawer, washing up gloves etc. The barn has a perfect location in the village, literally around the corner from the High Street. Yes the stairs to the second bedroom (which is a lovely cosy bedroom in the loft with beautiful beams and again exquisitely furnished) are steep but as long as you are careful they are not a problem. The weekend was a total surprise for my husband's birthday. On Saturday we had friends join us for lunch at The Great House (a must go to restaurant if you stay at the barn) and after we returned to the barn. Their reaction to the barn ranged from "wow", "stunning" "how did you find such a beautiful place" etc. We had a great evening altogether. All week my friends have text/emailed to say how good it was and when can we do it again. Do it again we will. Carol, the owner, came to see us to make sure we were OK - we were more than OK!!

Thank you Carol & Jim for a lovely break that recharged our batteries and more importantly created some lovely memories for both us, our friends and children.

We stayed for 3 nights at this perfect Suffolk retreat. The cottage was beyond perfect with everything you could wish for. The weather was awful, well what would you expect in January! but it was just a bonus because with the log burner roaring and the soft lighting from numerous lamps who would want to venture out. We chose to cook which was easy in this splendidly equipped kitchen although we were advised of some lovely local eatery's. With beautiful china and fine glasses the meal was well served.
We feel so lucky to have had a short stay at Blaize Cottage, it was never going to be long enough. If you are considering this for a weekend, a week, or much longer DON'T look any further believe me I trawled the internet for weeks you will not find better. The owners Jim and Carol made this such an easy and wonderful stay. 100% recommended!!

What a beautiful place. We had a 3 night break in between Christmas and New Year. We arrived on a Friday evening to a roaring fire, a real Christmas tree and music playing in the lounge. The sofas and beds are so comfortable it was hard work venturing out, (especially as there was Sky TV too). We had a lovely meal at the Swan and an okay meal at the Memsaab. I'd recommend a trip to Bury St Edmunds, but equally just staying in the village is lovely. It's an idyllic house and setting and I'm positive we will return. We regularly stay in supposed 5star accommodation and they don't always live up to it, but I'm delighted to say that this most definitely did!

Perfect retreat for a wonderful weekend. This charming cottage has everything you require and more and came with a good welcome pack and fresh flowers which was a lovely touch. Cosy woodburning stove added to a romantic break away! Perfectly situated within easy walking distance from the Medieval town of Lavenham and all its shops and excellent eateries.

I first came upon Blaize Barn several months ago on Trip Advisor, but sadly it was booked up. My husband and I wanted to have a weekend away with some very close friend and this time we were lucky that Blaize Barn was available. Upon arrival my friend and I left the men to unload the car as we could not wait to go and have a look inside. Just walking up the garden path filled us with excitement at how quaint it looked from the outside. Even though I had seen pictures of the lounge on the website I felt totally blown away with it and the warmth and ambience of the layout and furnishings was fantastic, The Kitchen was well equipped for your every need, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. Even the welcome pack was really appreciated. The shower in the bathroom was great and the beds were really comfortable. My husband and I had the upstairs bedroom which is in the eaves. Even though this bedroom is smaller it is very quirky and even though there is a large beam that you have to step over we did not find this a problem at all as you cannot miss it. The bed was really comfortable and we had no problems with the stairs either. Carol the owner came over to welcome us and to make sure that everything was to our liking and she was very helpful. My husband and I have been to Lavenham a couple of times and just love the village. We booked a meal at the Swan for Saturday night and as it was Remembrance Sunday we all went to the church for the service and then had Sunday Lunch in the Greyhound which has recently been taken over. The food on both days were excellent. The butchers in the high street sell fantastic sausages. We even bought some home with us. On leaving the cottage on Monday we asked Carol if we could have a look at Wool Cottage which sleeps 2 people. This cottage is also very lovely and we would definitely stay their too. We all had a great weekend and we will definitely be back. Thanks again Carol and Jim you have two beautiful cottages to be proud of.

Three of us stayed in this beautiful barn for my birthday treat. Lovely comfortable lounge with very efficient log burner and excellent lighting. Top class towels and bedding - which we love. Bath robes, slippers, fresh and a welcome hamper were all appreciated by us. Carol was a very easy going friendly lady. No problem with the driveway parking our car and the location is fantastic. We would not hesitate in going back next year. We had a brilliant lunch in The Greathouse in Lavenham. Perfect. Thank you Carol.

Just spent a long weekend Friday to Monday in Lavenham staying in Wool Cottage in Bear Lane. The cottage was absolutely lovely, that had been refurbished to a high standard. Its location is perfect to walk round exploring Lavenham and an ideal base for a trip to other local towns. The cottage was very comfortable with a good size lounge/diner and kitchen more than enough to suit your needs. A large bedroom is on the first floor with its own bath and local shower room across from the stairs. The bed was really comfortable and probably the best we've slept in away from home. Sitting there in the late evening with the log fire going was lovely and cozy. Carol made us feel very welcome and we would definitely recommend Wool Cottage to friends and family.
