Description: ‘There will come a day when our championing of this brilliant French restaurant means we will not be able to book a seat there due to it being so busy! Until that time we will simply state our great admiration for the cuisine, wine and new décor.’ East Anglia Daily Times

Maison Bleue is our local favourite for special occasion lunches. The quality and service are top notch. This is as close to a "masterchef" quality meal as you can find in Suffolk with three courses of this high standard for less than £30 - really excellent value.

We really enjoyed our sweets; the rhubard plate is excellent and the chocolate delightful. The moroccan lamb main was very good and perfectly cooked, but not quite "moroccan" enough for my taste; I was expecting stronger flavours.

Overall, we will of course be back!

As usual the service from all staff was impeccable and the food superb. Difficult to make our choices. The ladies had the special apple pudding which was amazing - they said. All in all a super lunch. Without doubt one of the best restaurants in this part of East Anglia and, there is some competition out there.

Have eaten here on a regular basis since it opened some 15 years ago, never fails to delight always a very warm friendly welcome, food always of the highest standard with service to match. I have paid triple the price in London for an experience which falls well short of Maison Bleue standards. Don't miss the chance its great.

Lovely french food and wines. The menu was varied and included beautiful fish dishes, my desert was to die for!!! Could never imagine an apple could taste so sublime! Would definately go back for a special occasion. Great service too from attentive staff.

Checked this out on Tripadvisor and liked the good reviews. It was also convenient being 7 minutes from the Angel hotel where we were staying over Easter period. We booked efficiently by email for a table for 4, no problem.

This is an intimate restaurant specialising in fish but with some good meat options. The food was excellent, with my main course of wild sea bass on black pudding a highlight. Friends had venison and skate, all excellently prepared. Starters and deserts equally impressive and a good wine list available at prices equating to the quality of the establishment.

Also a good selection of half bottles if required. Ordered one of these and they did try to provide the full bottle instead... Even charged us for the full bottle which was quickly corrected. But then you should always sanity check your bills anyway......

Readily offered iced tap water rather than try to get you to purchase expensive bottled water which is invariably no better at £4 a bottle !!!

The cheese table is visible as you walk in and is a revelation. My friends only complaint was being restricted to a choice of 5 !!

My only adverse comment is the supply of butter strait from the fridge, thus making it impossible to apply to the great bread with resorting to melting it over the candle :-)

To summarise, book the restaurant (it does fill up and is not the largest) and enjoy the food in a lovely atmosphere, particularly if you are a couple. If you are staying at the Angel, eat here and not in the hotel, for about the same price.....
