“Friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Very friendly welcome at this hotel. All staff were extremely polite. Food was excellent in the evening, good choice, well presented, fresh and hot. Breakfast was very good and had a good selection on the menu.
We had an executive room in the main body of the hotel. The room was clean but very tired and needs refurbishment, stained carpet and lukewarm water on first evening. Spoke to reception who advised that boiler had just been fixed, same the next night and housekeeper cam to turn broken attachment on the bath/shower attachment up which made a little difference.
Disappointing that they offer home made petit fours with coffee but each evening we just had a mint given us.
Would stay here again as staff made up for the tired appearance of the hotel.
If you are using the postcode on satnav, it takes you behind the hotel into a cul de sac, stay on main road.

Room Tip: Would book into the main body of the hotel, not outside rooms.

Stayed on business, ok hotel, parking not a problem, staff friendly, breakfast was good, rooms were clean.
The reception and dining area is separate from the accommodation, with the latter being set out in a 1960's Butlins chalet style.

The room I occupied appeared to have very thin walls, as I could hear my neighbour stir tea, walk around listen to his/ her tv, it was an adjoining room with a door enabling access to it ( I guess for family occupancy) so avoid that type if you want privacy.

No complaints and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with adjoining doors if you need privacy.

This hotel is managed by the most friendly team of people you could ever wish to meet. Nothing is too much trouble and the standard of accommodation is excellent in comparison with some of the other hotels in the Best Western group. I have stayed here on numerous occasions and it just gets better and better per visit. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Speak to the hotel staff when booking and ask their opinion on which is the best room to stay in. I...

Despite being part of a chain of hotels, the Priory is individual and in nice grounds with plenty of parking. convenient for the town and surrounding area. Good for friends and relatives meeting up for weddings etc.

We stayed here whilst visiting family in Bury St Edmunds. Everything was pretty good for a one night stay except one fundamental thing - the bed. It was small for a double bed (more like a single in a Premier Inn) overly hard in places with springs poking through - if Lenny Henry was here he would definitely be asking for his money back! Apart from that, the staff are very friendly and the service is pretty good. Breakfast tastes good but the Suffolk grill is minuscule in comparison to other hotels.

The hotel rooms are a bit small and rather dated. The keys are HUGE. Very cumbersome if going out. The heaters did not work, took 10 minutes for the hot water to kick on, and internet kicked you out every 5 minutes. The internet was extremely offsetting as this was a business trip and was up to 230 in the morning trying to finish working, due to lack of internet this took literally hours more than it should have. The staff was very pleasant and apologetic about the internet issues.

Room Tip: if needing to use the internet go somewhere else.

A pleasant hotel although a little dated. The room was acceptable and clean but tired. Breakfast was reasonable but the mushrooms were tinned which took the edge off the advertised "Suffolk " named breakfast. However the staff were all very friendly and helpful,in fact first class.
