Description: The Bay Tree Cafe Bistro has been an integral part of St Johns Street, one the loveliest areas in Bury St Edmunds, for more than 15 years. Being one the oldest buildings in the street we have been careful not go overboard with modernisation by keeping the interior subtle and furniture simple to offer a balance of cosy cafe and with a hint of modern bistro. With dining rooms on both the ground and first floors it is deceptively larger that it first appears. Our hope is that the Bay Tree's menus offer something for everyone; vegetarian dishes, dishes suitable for special diets and child portions.

Been here for afternoon tea and for lunch, it's a lovely cafe, both times we really enjoyed the food, its so tasty and the staff are lovely. In the town centre so not far to walk, can't wait to visit again soon

“Very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

It was our first visit to Bury and the staff couldn't do enough in order to help us find our bearings. The bacon and the sausage sandwiches were delicious and I highly recommend them

“For a light lunch, this is the best of many!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

I have visited Bury St Edmunds for many years, and I have noticed over the last few years there has been a large increase in hairdressing shops and restaurants. On almost every road and street, you will be able to find somewhere to eat! Although the majority are very good, for me and my wife, The Bay Tree cannot be beaten. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food is always lovely and fresh, and the menu along with drinks offers satisfying but healthy food. Excellent!

Just a short stroll away from the main square, this restaurant offers great coffee and cakes or meals if that's what your looking for. It's clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly.
