Our tour only consisted of a climb up the stairs to the top of the building and back again. The only justification for three star is the quality of the commentary. There was no visibility of any of the processes actually happening to produce the beer in the first place. No sight of anything brewing and certainly no sight of anything being put into barrels or bottles. Real shame as such a lovely place.

Great tour,Maureen knowledgeable, informative with a great sense of humour. One of the best tours we have ever done..and definitely the best tasting session afterwards. A great afternoon.

A coach load of us from our working man’s club from Essex visited the Greene King brewery.
On arrival, we were split into small groups for the tour, my group started off doing the beer tasting first after which we did the brewery tour.

Our guide Steve was most informative and gave a most interesting insight and history of beer manufacturing in Suffolk. The tour takes you up through the 1930’s art-deco building which has the mash tuns and ends up on the roof with a view of Bury St Edmonds.

As we were a group, the brewery laid on an excellent lunch for us. The brewery has its own bar and shop at ground level which is open to the public. I purchased a few bottles of beer to take home (well it would be rude not to – LOL)

One thing I will add, if you are infirm or have difficulty walking, then this tour really isn’t for you as there are lots of stairs to climb inside the brewery building.

A most enjoyable trip, thank you Greene King.

I accompanied my husband (a beer lover) on a brewery tour on saturday 27 july . Our tour guide John ('brian') was very informative and made it interesting, even for me , a non beer drinker and previously knowing nothing about the process. The building was beautiful and i loved climbing up through it to see the processes of brewing and looking out over Bury was really interesting. Flat closed shoes are a must, however they do have some spares for you to change into if you havent listened to their advice when booking ! My husband loved the tastings and got to try plenty. The token at the end allowed us to take home a bottle of our choice and a great recomendation was given by John of 'Hens Tooth' which i will gift to my dad :)
Many thanks for a great afternoon.
