Spent 2 nights at The Old Pear Tree whilst visiting family. Could not fault it in any way. Large room, beautifully clean, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, even a torch to use in the night to find our way to the loo!
Breakfast was perfect, set us up for the day ahead. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back!

Found this charming B&B on line and booked a one night stay as we were having a night out at Ickworth house for my husbands Christmas works party . We arrived at about 5.45 and were shown to our room which was lovely . Everything we needed was there . Tea, coffee and biscuits were complimentary . There was shower cream and also a handy jar of cotton wool and cotton buds . We had our house key to let ourselves out and back in at the end of our night .
Breakfast was cooked, ordered the night before with a selection of fresh fruit salad and cereals . Absolutely delicious !
Over all a lovely stay and a lovely hostess who provides everything we needed . Would definitely recommend and stay again .

Just had the one night at the Old Pear Tree. The B&B is located on the A143 a few miles out of Bury and despite its address it is not in the centre of Whepstead. If travelling at night it is best to look out for the illuminated sign on the left as you travel north. There is plenty of parking outside at the front. By the way don't be put off if you see a few 'white vans' outside, the owner's son has a small rental business run from an office in the grounds.

The location is very rural and so has nice views across to the adjoining fields, at the time we visited full of sheep who were accompanied, interestingly, by a few black swans!

Jenny, the host, was charming and quite chatty and made us feel very welcome The property is a mix of old and new with lots of beams and original features. We stayed in the Conference "Pear" Room, which is enormous. The decor is first class, kept immaculately and the rooms are full of little extras that made the stay all the more rewarding.

Breakfast is to die for. Biased towards a "full English" (including fried bread if you are not watching the cholesterol) there was still also the usual choice of cereals but also some lovely chopped fresh fruit. Have a good fill and it will last you through the day!

Just one minor point, the A143 can be quite a busy road with fast moving traffic. As a result there was some road noise to be heard from the bedroom, especially first thing in the morning.

A wonderful find. This B/B is excellent value for money. It is several miles outside of Bury but was ideal as it was near to our relations. It is very modern, immaculately looked after. The rooms were very good and would put many larger hotels to shame. The guest house is set in very well maintained gardens. It is located on a very peaceful area on the A143 several miles outside of Bury. The breakfast was very good. The place has charm and the hospitality is excellent.

We had a couple of nights here to enjoy the sights of Suffolk. Clean, modern style in a lovely old house, on an A road, which is not so busy as to be a problem.
Plenty of places to eat within a short drive. Good facilities in the room, , terrific breakfast, lovely hosts, Thanks.

Stayed over the bank holiday at pear tree cottage. Was blown away by the hospitality of the lovely hosts Jenny and Peter not forgetting Ted the cutest dog ever. The scenery is beautiful- the place spotless. Breakfast is a treat made to order with fresh produce and plentiful. There will be no better value b & b in the area. And no nicer hosts....

Just an overnight stay arriving in the evening after a longish drive from Sussex. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room which had TV, drink making facilities and was en-suite. Spotlessly clean, plenty of towels and very comfortable bed. Although situated on a main road into Bury St Edmunds it was very quiet and the room had a view of the garden and surrounding countryside. After a wonderful nights sleep the breakfast was superb - just order what you want the night before. Excellent value for money in a house full of character. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this B&B.
