Informal dining at its best. Had a meal here with friends and all raved about the quality and taste of each of their meals. An absolute must if you are visiting the area. Need to book in advance as it is very popular

We visited this restaurant while staying in Bury after reading the reviews on trip advisor. Arrived half hour early at 7pm but there were already several couple eating. By the time we left around 9pm it was filled to capacity.
The food was excellent...I had mutton broth for starter and my husband had sweetbreads. Both delicious flavours. Then we had venison which was cooked to perfection with quite unusual accompaniments. We even had dessert, Pantone bread and butter pudding and the cheese board. Add a bottle of wine and a glass of port and the whole lot with tip was £100. Well worth the visit.
If I had any criticism it would be that the courses came a bit too quickly and when we wanted our bill it took a while to get it.

Pea Porridge is my favourite place to eat in Bury St Eds!!
If we are looking for something a little bit special this is always our first choice.

The menu is varied and interesting and the food is always delicious.
The restaurant is really small and feels really intimate and the staff are brilliant!
We have never had a complaint!!

Well worth a visit - but make sure you book.

This is by far one of the most interesting and delicious food on offer in East Anglia. Nestled in the center of the town this small restaurant has a special warmth from the moment you push the door.
The menu is clever, interesting and varied. Many classics are present and from their description you guess quickly that you are in the presence of a chef who loves combining flavours and has great knowledge and respect for the produce he is cooking with.
His strenght and intelligence is not to try to recreate a pale copy of these loved classic but add the little "je ne sais quoi" that takes it to the next level of enjoyement, and that is were his talent lies.
I am often worried of menus that try to be too clever, but here you are in the presence of somebody who wants to take your taste buds on a wonderful voyage of discovery and "boy" is it worth trusting!
We tried each others dishes and they were all wonderful. Each mouthful makes you stop, think and enjoy the vision of a great artisan. This is an true epicurian experience and one I want to share with more friends.
Far from being pretentious, this is presented in a beautifully simple manner, the food, charming service and decor let the food speak for itself and this is so refreshing.
This talented couple deserves the many praises and compliments they get in reviews, and if you are interested to share in the experience, it is worth booking a table in advance as it is the favorite of many locals.
