My husband & I stayed for a night to attend a friends wedding in the local area. We booked based on recommendation so didn't really know what to expect but were thoroughly impressed.

The Three Kings is well located & easy to find with ample free parking which is always good!

Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome by the bar staff who organised our early access to the room, and even booked a cab on our behalf to take us to the wedding which was brilliant.

The room itself was well equipped with a TV, mini fridge, coffee/tea making facilities and a lovely powerful shower - and even a hair dryer! The bed itself was super comfy making for a good nights sleep!

Breakfast next day (you preorder and pick a time to go) was really impressive, we had an English breakfast with items picked to suit us and it was delicious (and not remotely greasy)

Overall an excellent pub/bed & breakfast with great helpful staff who made us feel very welcome.

We dined here last week and had what I would describe as perfectly nice pub grub at decent prices. Nothing blew me away but if I was in the area again and after a value for money dinner I would go here again. Very friendly Bar Staff.

Stayed with my two boys of 11 and 13 for a local wedding - great to be able to give the boys their own room but which had a connecting door to ours. Both rooms very clean and had all we needed. Had to arrange a slightly different check in due to wedding time and this was no problem. Highly recommended and a great location. Staff cheery, polite and helpful. Would happily stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: Just ask - they're very helpful

We were told to wait until we were asked to go up to the carvery as this was done on an who arrived first basis. One couple went up and were told to wait until asked which was fair enough as we got there before them. However two more couples came in, obviously regulars as they knew the names of the staff working. They walked straight up to the carvery and were served right in front of us! Nothing was said and we found this to be very rude. The food was average (dry turkey, overdone roast potatoes) which I was very surprised with as this used to be a weekly affair when I lived at home with my parents and was well known for a great carvery . There were also many flies around the carvery. Not very inviting. Desert potions are very small for the price. Won't be rushing back.

Goodness! we are so sorry you were made to feel like this. We do have customers who return week after week for our carvery as it is such a good meal and served well in our opinion.
The staff are trained to be friendly and courteous to all, so locals certainly are not encouraged to 'jump the queue' as you suggest.
Our apologies you felt it was under par, we hope you will return again and give it another chance, we are confident that this experience must be a 'one off' judging by the numbers of people we have returning and complimenting our efforts.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, your comments will be taken seriously and discussed at our next staff meeting. Kindest regards. The landlady.

The Three Kings has had a number of owners, the new ones in 2012 have given the place a much needed lick of paint although they really need to ditch that sticky old red carpet everywhere that has been there for years and I have no idea why there is a random glitter ball suspended from the bar ceiling. Our twin room (105) was clean and comfortable and perfectly fine for an overnight stay. There's plenty of free parking and the cooked breakfast was good too. It's not the most upmarket place to stay in the area but visitors wanting somewhere close and reasonable (£80 for 2 for pub B&B) to attend functions at Hengrave Hall would find it fits the bill.

I attended a function in Bury and decided to stay overnight so that I could have a drink or two.
The Three Kings has apparently had a few different owners over the last few years and some older reviews may reflect this but its current owners provide a good clean room with all the provisions of a hotel ( trouser press, tv, tea and coffee etc). Wifi is available for free but the signal is weak so you may only get it in the pub itself. The rooms are separate from the pub so you can come and go as you please. A lovely english breakfast was provided and served promptly. I would recommend a stay here and will do again myself.

Stayed here for one night this week. We shared a twin room. We paid £40 each which included a wonderful breakfast. The room was very clean, the beds comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate supper here as well and can recommend the ribs and hot chocolate Brownie. Drank pints of Abbot which were kept perfectly. A lovely pub and only a mile or so to the Green King Brewery.
We were here to sort out the funeral arrangements for a family member and were really looked after by the staff.
Probably having the wake here as well.
