We recently stayed here, had dinner and breakfast. Very very clean, best dinner expensive but delicious. As an American did not care for breakfast but it was very fresh, traditional English and great service . The owners are wonderful as well as their parents. Lovely lovely!

We called in as a last minute thing because our original pub had to close due to a bizzare swarm of flies that had invaded the place. However the landlord pointed us in the direction of the Cadogan Arms. Two of us had the roast beef, two of us had the pork and my two daughters shared a childs portion of beef. The food was very good and we would call in again.

We really liked the toy box which kept my daughters amused for a good while. There is also a great beer garden with a small play frame with a slide and a good view of the chicken coop. Clearly children have been thought about at this place. We didn't stay overnight though may consider it in the future.

The only reason that I'm not giving the Cadogan 5 stars is that it only does one vegetarian option BUT everytime I've eaten there I've had a great meal. The staff are attentive, the food is worth the price and I always leave happy.

I have been staying at this hotel since 2007 but the place now needs some close attention, the bed in George has seen far better days and the valance just did not fit the bed. The bathroom was this time cleaner than the last time I stayed in December.
The breakfast has declined in quality over the last years and the cooking of a fried egg seems to have been lost. they are trying to be a bit to cocky by making their own baked beans which are terrible. The sorting out of cutlery after dinner made so much noise we could not hear each other speak. At breakfast the cleaner decided to mop and vacuum around us as we ate !!!
the owners seem to keep acquiring other local pubs and hotels and it seems may be have taken their eye of the finer details at what was once a pleasurable small hotel

I had a room booked for me as I was performing in Bury St Edmunds and I don't know the area.
I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived at The Cadogan. The room was lovely, especially the massive bed. Breakfast was also very nice- I had the kippers and poached eggs and my partner had the Full English. An excellent place to stay in a lovely area :)

The pub Sunday Lunch can be a little tedious, and predictable. The Cadogan has a slightly different take. Charge a bit more, offer a better product with some welcome variations, and provide that " I enjoyed that feeling"
The food really is good. Forget the 3 roast Sunday lunch with tired vegetables. The meat is cooked to perfection, the vegetable have a unique twist, and the deserts are equally distinctive. Some good beers (from their own brewery).
My only (minor) criticism is the service. The average age of the front end must be about 25. In fairness the guy at the bar was well informed about the beers and the menu but the waitresses , although polite and efficient, did no that've that pizz-az.
With the quality of the food, this place could aim much higher but, to do that, they need an assertive "front of house". Such an investment would enable them to increase their prices ( should I be saying this ?) and move them up into a higher league.
Check it out and make up your own mind. You've little to lose

A great discovery
I booked this room at the last minute and got a good deal as we were just travelling through, but we were very pleasantly surprised, and delighted, at our room.
We decided to go down for a dinner, and a glass of wine, and again was really pleased with the service and food. We felt a little underdressed as we hadn't expected to go down to dinner, as we were going to go into town for something to eat as we were both tired for a long drive, so it was an advantage not to go out. We felt we had the same service as those that had made an effort to get dressed for dinner, it was nice and relaxing, and we enjoyed the atmosphere.
All the staff were really polite, and professional, and if I had to make one really picky comment at all,it would be that the drinking glasses in our room were dirty, when you held them up you could see lipstick on the sides. Everything else was quality in our room.
