Went in on the offchance - restaurant was very busy but we were given a table in the bar area which was fine. Went for the 2 course Sunday 'Roast on the Coast'. Both had beef which was plentiful and tender, served with a large Yorkshire pudding and nice range of vegetables. Dessert was trifle. Staff were great, food was great - will be back.

Although we've visited Aldeburgh many times before, this was the first time we'd stayed in a hotel here (we usually stay self-catering in a family member's holiday cottage). We were here for a weekend at the end of January 2019.

Check in was quick and efficient and we were given the key to our room. Whilst not particularly spacious or modern, it was lovely and clean with all the facilities you would expect - tea and coffee making facilities, iron, toiletries, tv etc. I was pleased to see that we could control the central heating and open the window (as it was very hot in our room when we arrived!).

Sleep quality was good (although with the window open we were woken up by some rather noisy seagulls in the morning, obviously not the hotel's fault!). We went down for breakfast and were treated to a great choice of anything we wanted from the menu. We chose Greek yogurt, muesli and fruit to start, and then went in for a cooked breakfast - both of which were made to order and superb quality. Tea and coffee were both excellent too. My husband had kippers for breakfast on the second day and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Unfortunately we didn't have lunch or dinner in the restaurant so can't comment on that, but we did have a nightcap or two on both nights in the bar, which was very pleasant - and reasonably priced for a hotel, a nice surprise.

As we only stayed two nights here, there's not much else to report on. However, all the staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay here very much. We've promised to try out the restaurant the next time we're in Aldeburgh!

We booked a sea-view room which was lovely. The room was clean and spacious - bathroom had a shower and a roll-top bath. We also took our dog for the stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect, as right on the beach and a short walk from the town. The Mill Inn is minutes away, if you are looking for a good meal (we have the mixed grill to share which was very good!) and a pint.

Room tip: Select a Sea-view room if you can

Stayed at this hotel on 23rd and 24th March. Lovely staff and amazing food in the a la carte restaurant. Nice comfortable room and a very tasty breakfast cooked to order. I would thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel if staying in Aldburgh

I had not been to Aldeburgh before but just the approach to the hotel, through the town, turn left in front of the ancient Moot Hall and park, with the hotel on one side and the beach on the other, was enough to make me want to visit again. The hotel did not change my early opinion. There was a cheery greeting at reception. The room for my wife and I, though not in the luxury class, was perfectly adequate and clean with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. On tip-toe and peering round the corner there was even a sea view!
We were treated to a delicious cream tea in the lounge which barely left room for the evening meal. The food in the restaurant in the evening and also for breakfast was excellent, served by attentive and pleasant staff.
In all it was a visit to be repeated.

Room tip: Rooms with sea views also look over the local fishing boats and the attendant, occasionally noisy, sea gulls.
