“A lovely memory for our mini-moon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

We stayed here for one night as a mini honeymoon after our wedding before our honeymoon later in the year. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We had a small double room at the front of the hotel which was lovely and looked out onto the beach. Our room also had a balcony, I think it is the only one with a balcony as far as I could see which was lovely. We sat out there quite a lot as we a outdoors people and enjoyed taking in the sea air and enjoying the view. It also helps that we were blessed with good weather during our stay. When we arrived there was a chilled bottle of Prosecco waiting for us that I had pre-ordered but there was nothing special arranged by the hotel for us newly weds. We ordered room service when we got there and enjoyed a light lunch with our Prosecco. I enjoyed my jacket potato but my husband was disappointed with his sandwich which was small and plain with no side salad or anything to accompany it. Later we enjoyed a 3 course meal as part of the package with the room. That was delicious, we were sat in the small conservatory at the front with a view out onto the beach and finished our meal with coffee in the lounge. We had a great night's sleep and woke up early to that beautiful sea view. We had breakfast downstairs and sat at the same table in the conservatory. Breakfast was lovely I helped myself to the buffet style breakfast goods and my husband had a cooked breakfast and they were both delicious and filling. We left the hotel very happy and enjoyed our stay. I'm sure we will visit the Wentworth again but we will have to save up as it was given to us as a wedding gift and is out of our price range for a night away. But to be honest the view us worth every penny and the memories for us will be priceless.

Thank you for leaving a review. Congratulations on your recent marriage. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

I am sorry the sandwich was not to your liking. These are made in-house by bread from a local bakery and are always accompanied by sea salted crisps and lettuce leaves and coleslaw. If someone requests a side salad to go with the sandwich then this can always be provided.

Please do add yourself to our mailing list and special offers will be sent out to you.

We hope to welcome you back very soon - perhaps next year for your anniversary.

This family owned hotel has been in the same hands for very nearly a century. It is never allowed to get tired though being frequently and tastefully maintained, modernised and refurbished. The same is true of the food which has been consistently excellent ever since I can remember. The staff are always polite, efficient and helpful. They are also clearly also well treated by the excellent management since they always seem happy and show no inclination to change jobs.
The prices may seem high but usually include an excellent dinner for 2 and an excellent breakfast. I once had the best breakfast kipper I have ever tasted here. A dinner for two of this standard could easily cost £100 on its own anywhere else. This is one of only a very few hotels I know in vthe World where I am happy to stay on a half board basis because I know I am unlikely to find better food elsewhere. I have been known to complain however on one occasion that the portions were too big.

Visited for four nights to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary. Fantastic huge room, delightful staff and outstanding food. A wonderful pet friendly hotel. Bonnie had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back again. Many clients did seem older than us but this wasn't a problem as relaxing was the aim of the trip. Will certainly return when we need to recharge our batteries! the room was lovely and comfortable and loved the fact there were chairs to sit and read or just enjoy the view which was beautiful! Special thanks must go to the lady who arranged for a candle in my desert with "happy birthday" written in chocolate round the edge of the plate! And the waiter (Alex I think) who sang Happy Birthday! A truly memorable evening! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thank you once again and we will be back.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

With family living in this quiet restful seaside town (with some very stylish independently owned shops and quite the best menswear shop, butchers and delicatessen anywhere) we thought we knew the area well and over the years had gained first hand experience of most of its hotel and accommodation options, either staying elsewhere along the seafront or taking holiday lets for it is not always appropriate to burden relations with appeals to be put up. But when circumstances called for many of us from around the world to gather in Aldeburgh for a few days in November, we chose not to follow previous stays but to try the Wentworth within an easy stroll of where we all needed to be and convenient to the town's amenities. We are so pleased they could put us up. We had double rooms in the main hotel and an incredibly large double in the annexe just across the lane. Sumptuously furnished, excellent service and comfort, we were all so well cared for throughout. Rooms were well stocked with quality toiletries, tea/coffee choices, great and plentiful warmed towels (my yardstick for good housekeeping) and much more and the world-weariest of us global travellers so enjoyed the comfortable beds. Somewhere they hide a chef and a kitchen creating delightful fare from locally sourced produce and fresh fish landed each morning just across the beach.. A lifetime of travelling and staying at many of the world's grandest names in hotels and now we discover the privately owned Wentworth, with its concerned and caring staff and first class service. Magic. A true country house hotel right by the sea complete with all mod cons but without the brassy glare of plastic and easy decor options. We will be back - but sadly we learned they are already fully booked for the next couple of Christmases. Bother!

Room Tip: There are sea facing bedrooms as are the resturant and public rooms. We were ahppy with our land-s...

Couldn't get a sea view room so settled for standard double at the back. Comfortable enough, but not the same as waking up looking at the unique beach-side ambiance that is so special about Aldeburgh. Still, the superb service and delicious food, in the restaurant looking toward the beach, made up for it. Will return, but to sea view room.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view

We stayed for a single night stay in early November. The service, decor, room and food was perfect. I think it is its independence that explains the extra attention to detail over that you can expect from chains. Lots of original art and antique furniture. The rooms are very well finished, modern and stylish. The beds are very comfortable. We are already planning our next trip...

For the second time in 10 days we have just enjoyed the hospitality of the Wentworth Hotel. The decor is striking and the artwork interesting and contemporary.
The welcome, service and 3 course supper was very good value and the whole stay was cosy and relaxing-We would like to live there and retire!
