We were extremely happy with our stay at the Swiss Cottage. The owners are very friendly and did their best to make our stay memorable. The whole house is fairly new, built to a high standard, very nicely decorated and very clean. Breakfast was great, too. Prepared with care and served with a big smile. We can absolutely recommend the Swiss Cottage as one of the best B&Bs in the UK.

"Luxury" describes the Swiss Cottage to a tee. We were extremely happy with our choice of accommodation and look forward to a return visit very soon.
Heather and Davina made our stay memorable and nothing was too much trouble, what a breakfast!

This must be one of the best B&B experiences I have had. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room very comfortable and the en-suite bathroom spotless. There was more than enough wardrobe and shelf space; we would have had trouble filling it even with two full-size suitcases. The bed was lovely and comfortable, and there was a nice view over the pretty rear garden as well as a window to the front where the car was parked. One small niggle was the lack of a curtain or blind on the rear velux-style window. It did have an insect roll-down screen should you sleep with the window open (if bird song in the small hours isn't your thing you may want to keep it shut), but nothing to keep out the light. This wasn't any problem from a privacy point of view as nobody could see in, but in mid-summer it meant the room was flooded with daylight from about 4am. A simple thing to correct and it didn't spoil our stay; I was too tired to care overmuch.

The breakfast was outstanding: well cooked, ample quantity and choice and all served promptly with a smile. Overall this B&B deserves the "excellent" rating I have given it. I would happily stay there again if needing accommodation in the area.

Thank you so much for your lovely review of Swiss Cottage it is really appreciated. We were sorry to learn that you did not know that there is an integral blackout blind in the velux window that you mention in the review. We will ensure that all future guests are made aware of this as well as the mosquito blind. We are very relieved that this did not spoil your stay with us.

Kind regards
Eugene and Heather

We recently went to England to visit family and decided to stay at the Swiss Cottages in Aldringham. From start to finish this place was more than we could have expected. Check in was a breeze...we were met at the front door by Heather (owner) and taken to our room. The room was clean, spacious, well decorated and had an ensuite bathroom. The bathroom was clean and modern. The room contained a television, plenty of dresser and closet space, a kettle with coffee/tea provided and snacks. Our room (the Thorpeness) was at the back of the property and had a wonderful, quiet view of the garden. The breakfast provided was MUCH MORE than we could have imagined. The dining area is spacious and has a perfect view of the colorful gardens with the wide variety of flowers and shrubs. The breakfast food selection was outstanding...from eggs and bacon to cereal and fruit. The portions were large, prepared perfectly and were always served with a smile and conversation by Davina (daughter). The property is in a great location between Leiston and Aldeburgh and a 7 minute walk from a very nice pub (The Parrott and Punchbowl) (see my review of the pub for more on that) Checkout from the property felt more like we were leaving our family than leaving a B & B. We were all given hugs and handshakes and even received final hand waves while we were driving away.

Overall this place was awsome! Heather and Eugene (owners) were the perfect hosts and I believe would do whatever they could to help you during your stay. I do a considerable amount of traveling and can tell you that if you are looking for a place that treats you wonderful from start to finish than this is it.

Room Tip: I think every room at the B & B would be great but I can recommend the Thorpeness (back of prope...

We visited this region of the country for the first time recently when attending a friend's wedding and had a wonderful time. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and advised regarding local places to eat and drink as well as to visit. Breakfast was excellent and we wound definitely stay here again if we return to the region in the future. Highly recommended!!

As a young couple we made a visit to the Swiss cottage for a friends wedding, when we got there we found a nice relaxed atmosphere and got settled in quickly and had friends across the hall. The room was bright and clean and the next morning at breakfast was excellent, we enjoyed every part of our stay and would like to say thank you again to the Swiss cottage.
