We went here for lunch one day having never been before. The pub is lovely. We liked the layout, the decor, everything.

The waitress was very friendly and the food came quickly.

We both had burgers which were delicious.

We shall definitely be visiting again!

Visited on the advice of people who are fairly regular, but can only speak of our own experience.

Came on a Sunday afternoon, and it was fairly busy but a lot of people were sitting outside. Service was quick and polite, order taken quickly. Not off to the best start when we heard the man on the table behind tell a member of staff he had found some "extra protein" in his lettuce. Accept this can happen anywhere no matter how careful you are, and we could hear that it was quickly rectified for the customer.

When the food arrived we both thought it was just about average. I had a burger which was not very hot, but tasted ok. Other half had a half rack of ribs with a steak. When the lady came to take his order she asked what salad dressing he wanted and which sauce for the steak. About half way through, we realised he had not actually had any salad or dressing. Also, the steak should have come with a herb butter on top, which again was missing.

Think we just had an off day with this one, but we will not be returning.

Ive been a few times for late lunch as they open and serve food throughout the afternoon. So arriving at 3pm ish would be the lull period after a busy lunch trade.. Can this be a valid excuse for the slovenly carpeted area in front of the service hatch. and the condition of the mens toilet ? We stayed until almost 5pm and no effort was made to prep the place for the evening trade. It is a busy place but I suggest because of its location rather than its merits. There are some good reviews on here about the place and I wonder how did I miss out on the excellent experience had by others. I opted for a Steak Frites which on this occosion couldnt be cut with the steak knife provided , it was a thick lump of mussel with no fat and really difficult to chew. This was replaced by something simular but a little less offensive. I asked for the tomatoe to be replaced with some onions and was told they didnt have any ! in a steak restaurant I find this a tough one.. but could offer me an onion loaf at £4.95 . My guest had Schntzel chicken at £7.75 which was reported as tough and dry. Lots of serving staff but hard to catch there eye , the place along with the food was very ordinary for the type of charges they impose. No sign of any managment which accounts for the very grey experience I have had when visiting here. A mediocre glass of house red at £4.95 makes comming here for a few drinks prohibitive.. Think they need a rethink and some managment input might revive the staff attitude to a better service and cleanleness level.

Tastefully decorated restaurant / bar in a nice location serving average food.

We ate here at a lunchtime and it was pretty busy, a good sign. The menu has a pretty decent selection of meat orientated dishes (it is a steakhouse after all!). Amongst our party, the burgers were the most popular, and they did look quite impressive, also on our order was the chicken dish and fish and chips from the lunch menu. The food was well presented, but nothing really to get excited about. If you are passing by and fancy nipping in for a decent meal then this is the place, if you are planning a night out and thinking of booking a table I would look elsewhere.

We've been here many times and with one rare exception all the meals have been very good. This time was just as good with three lovely steaks combined with an excellent 'recommended' Shiraz. The service was good despite the place being packed out.The food arrived within a reasonable time, given that it is freshly cooked. It's a pity that the bar area has been more than halved but this restaurant has weathered the recession well and its popularity has demanded more dining space. It's advisable to book as it just gets busier and busier.
