Having visited this restuarant previously with no bad experience we booked for lunch with some visiting relatives. From the minute we arrived the service was terrible; the head 'waiter' has an attitude problem larger than the portion sizes. One of my guests simply asked for medium fried eggs and was told 'you'll have them how they come'- we were one of two tables present at the time!! The food wasn't too bad but it left a sour taste following the poor service. We'll not be visiting again.

Went to The Church for a birthday celebration . A disaster from beginning to end , firstly the bar and the ridiculously expensive drinks , where the rude barman knocked a drink over my partner , then said well don't let it ruin your night !. Once we sat down in the rather shabby restaurant service was rushed and rather rude with no pleasantries at all . Food was a let down , my starter of haddock and poached egg was ok , the egg was piping hot the fish and sauce were cold . My main of supposedly gammon and eggs was dire , sliced cold ham with an egg on top . I seriously could have had a better meal at Weatherspoons ! I wouldn't recommend theis place at all .

I went with a party of five and found the experience different from anything I had visited before
Although we had previously booked a table by phone they had no knowledge of us when we arrived. They asked us to go down stairs to the bar to get a drink whilst they sorted out a table. This literally only took a few minutes and we were asked to walk upstairs to our now appointed table.
The food itself was good but not outstanding. The desserts were probably the best value out of the three courses we all had.
I think the younger generation probably would enjoy this venue the most especially if in a big party. When we went there were birthday parties and a hen party going on.
The atmosphere is different with it being a former church and it creates a very noisy room with it having a high ceiling.
Most of the existing features of the church remain including the wooden floor and very unique chairs which are heavy to move and you are warned to be careful with.
If you cannot walk up or down stairs easily you may have a problem and will need some help from someone else.
All in all a pleasant evening with a few reservations.

Wanted visit for a long time as people had been and enjoyed it, the building was hard to find hard to park, it was a Wednesday night so it wasn't busy there was us and two more parties of 4 people, as soon as we sat down we felt like they were rushing to serve us so we could leave so they could have a early finish food was a Ok standard but nothing to rave about was left disappointed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Church. The menu is simple and unpretentious, the food however was excellent. The service was faultless.
