“A popular walking area”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

The area has plenty of varied walks to suit alll.Car parking is free but can be limited if you go in the summer. The Ramblers retreat is a must for a coffee and cake after your walk. The area has a natural beauty and is well worth a visit anytime of the year.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Stunning place for a walk at any time of the year. Do call into the Rambler's Retreat for refreshment while there. The autumn colours are beautiful and it feels like a different world.

“Peaceful valley a stone's through from the hurley- burley!”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Just a short distance from the excitement of Alton Towers lies lovely Dimmingsdale. We usually park at the car park in nearby Oakamoor, then walk to the Ramblers Retreat via the disused railway track. It is particularly worth visiting the valley in autumn as the colours can be spectacular.Follow the track by the pools and stream, or strike out for a more rugged hillside walk. The Ramblers Retreat cafe is an attractive venue with pretty garden, serving meals, snacks or just icecreams.Service can be slow at weekends or holiday times.
