“Excellent food, lovely place”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

I was apprehensive about writing a stellar review of this pub because it doesn't seem to be that well known and I'd like it to stay that way! It is a belter! Lovely, home cooked food that is remarkably low priced, bags of character and very friendly staff. The only disappointment I had was when I visited on a Monday and discovered they don't serve food on this day! I was gutted because I was so looking forward to eating here again! Oh well, another day!

It is also pretty hard to find without a sat-nav and is up a very very narrow lane so be careful.

“Great Value Inn”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

We visited this pub / restaurant on our way to Devon (it's only a few miles from the M6) and were impressed. It's more of a country pub but set on the edge of Stoke.Great choice of real ales and all that other rubbish ( lagers and draughts) and the food was much, much better than what we expected, given the prices. The meals seemed to be freshly prepared unlike some of the bigger chains we know and were piled high. The jambalaya and curry dishes we had (it was spicy night on a Tuesday) both hit the spot. The place seems to have changed owners recently and the new people are on a mission to improve the place, and judging from what we saw, they are doing a great job of it.

Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

Saw a couple of good reviews so thought I would try it and wasn't disappointed. I had mega meat platter which was sirloin steak, chicken, pork chop, sausage, gammon, egg, black pudding, mushrooms toms and trimmings all spot on for 14.95. It was Tuesday spice night, the wife chicken jambalaya and says its the best jambalaya she has eaten since we went to Mexico on our hols. Great selections of real ales 4 choices tried tribute and joules pale both great.

“Proper home cooking and service with a smile”
Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

We went here for a family birthday, there were a lot of us and we're a fun, noisy bunch but they took us all in their stride, laughing along at our rubbish jokes! The Sunday roast was top notch, and we had a really lovely afternoon at a bargain price. A little of the usual path but a gem which we were pleased to have found. The new owner had just taken over and done the place up and she was an absolute gem!
