Owner description: Hanley Park and the adjacent Cauldon Grounds are open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The park is staffed most days from morning until late afternoon, and we welcomed around 922,000 visitors during 2014. Cauldon Grounds first opened in 1894, and were followed by the larger Hanley Park in 1897. Both were designed by the up-and-coming landscape architect Thomas Mawson, helping to cement his international reputation. Hanley Park's listed status has recently been upgraded to II* in recognition of its importance. The two parks continue to be the focus of many exciting developments. The park has now been awarded £4.5m funding for a once-in-a-lifetime restoration project. The most visible work is set to take place from spring 2016. This is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund through their Parks for People Programme, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Things to see and do in the park - Art features, including 'Love Ties' sculpture by Emily Campbell - Grade II* listed historic landscape, including bandstand, terrace garden, pavilion, lake, Doulton fountain (in Cauldon Grounds) and views across the park towards Stoke Minster. - Crown green bowling green - Fishing (the park is classed as 'community water,' and all are welcome to fish responsibly with a valid Environment Agency rod licence - Three exciting play areas: toddler, sensory, and adventure (including aerial slide) - Picnic area - Free-of-charge sports zone including: all-weather floodlit sports court, cricket wicket and nets, tennis courts, basketball hoops and a multi-use sports court. - Toilets (open during staffed hours).

Hanley park has 4 parks in 1. 1 is for the tiny ones, 1 is a tactile and sound park, the other is for mid aged kids (5-9) and the other is for older children aged 10+
There is also a lake, which in all honesty is in need of a tidy up, the public toilets were a disgrace, but only 1 block was in use at the time due to a blockage in the other.
However, you could spend the day there free of charge, and free parking on site and on nearby roads, take a picnic and a great day is yours.

Fantastic facilities - tennis courts, lake, kids play areas of all ages, plenty of walking space, the canal running through it... Utilizing regularly for social gatherings - a great park.

I work near Hanley Park and visit it regularly. It needs a lot of TLC but still manages to offer an oasis of calm in the middle of the city. I love the art and the space. I'm part of the new Friends of Hanley Park and I'm on the facebook group I Love Hanley Park. I'm keen to get the park used as much as possible by everyone. Please visit it - the more its used the better and safer it will be!!!!!!

We visit this park quite often with our grandchildren mainly to use the childrens play areas, which are extensive with enough to keep most kids happy, the play areas are kept clean and tidy with lots of different things for kids to play on, The park itself has a lot of childhood memories for me as i lived nearby, "However, i do feel that the main pavillion has, and still is greatly under-used, and was closed on our last visit, this could be used as a cafe/restaurant or some other social amenity,
