Stayed in a large clean room with a well sized bathroom. Had no issues with the hot water. The manager who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the bar, it didn't meet my expectations however my partner was very satisfied. Loved the menu and drinks range, especially the passionfruit cider available and the late hours in which you can order food from the bar. The downside was they had a very overpowering lemon air fresher plugged in which hits you as you walked in, which I turned off. Overall not much to fault.

Now don't get me wrong the place is nice and comfortable (my back felt great after a nights sleep, and the food in the bar was lovely) but no hot shower or any breakfast until at least 7:30. The black mold around the windows was not a nice sight either

The pub attached to this hotel is comfortable, at times the bar service is very slow, you could die of dehydration at busy times. The rooms are comfortable but best advised to ask for one on the top floor at the rear of the building. The further away from the bar the better, given the area is not the best around apparently, you get noise from macdonalds across the road, the plus side there is a 24 hr tesco over the road so overall its not so bad but I wouldn't recommend staying here for any length of time. We have initially booked 2 weeks here while we find somewhere more suitable as due to circumstances we need somewhere a little more long term for now. At the weekend you can get some anti-social behaviour in the surrounding areas but nothing to worry about. Locationwise its great for access to the A50. The food in the weathervane pub is also good.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor and the far end overlooking the car park if you don't want the noise.

This was my 2nd stay in a year at the Weathervane. This time I stayed with my boyfriend for 2 nights. It is perfect if what you're looking for is a good value hotel. It's not spectacular but it was perfect for a trip to Alton Towers which was only 20 minutes away. It's also very conveniently located to a huge Tesco & a McDonalds. The restaurant is great value & the portions are huuuuge! It's great pub grub but again not spectacular. The staff were nice enough.

The only thing I will say is take your own pillows! The pillows are soooo flat even if you use the spare ones on top.

Would stay here again.

Staff were extremely friendly. Food was great and fairly cheap. Great location for visiting Alton Towers as it's only a 20min drive away. Room was clean. Bed was comfy however pillows are extremely thin, you would need about 3 to just feel like you have one normal pillow. McDonalds and Tescos are literally a two seconds walk away. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed here overnight after a wedding in the area and for the price you pay you get a reasonable room which was at least clean and comfortable. The bar and eatery are exactly what you'd expect from a value style place. I'd have no issues staying here again....you get what you pay for and as long as its clean and tidy its OK

Payed a visit to the weathervane on our way to alton towers. The location is fantastic for travellers with a tesco right across the road and a McDonald's for the kids. Rooms are clean enough(with only some minor scruples) and kitted out with the usual comfy bed and tv as well as a sofa. The staff are nice and friendly and the restraunt downstairs is full of well priced wholesome fayre. With the room and a meal for two all totalling less than £60 I would definately visit again and recomend to friends.
