This place might be cheap, but there are standards. Used soap on the sink, sink not clean...carpets are dirty and stained, douvets and pillows clearly not washed regularly....if at all, sheets were clean tho, room was just out dated and dirty.

Clearly a contracts motel as there were a lot of them hanging around the outside of the rooms drinking cans of larger...not a good sight or advertisement.

Cant comment on the food as they shut the resturant half an hour before it was due to...so we had to go off and look for a take-a-way resturant.

Glasses from the bar were filthy....

Continental breakfast consisted of toast and cornflakes...no upgrade of a full english available during the week, not times given either for start and finish of breakfast....nearly had to set the tables ourselves and nothing prepared and no staff around of what seemed for ever.

Overall...I would not recommend this motel to anyone...stick to premier inn or travel lodge

We stayed for three nights at the Plough as it was very reasonably priced and ideally situated for attending my daughter's 21st. The rooms were basic, but certainly more than adequate for the price range. My wife is heavily pregnant and asked for some extra pillows, which were provided immediately. On the first night, we got back late and I discovered that most of the springs in my matress were bust and I had an awful nights sleep. However, when I mentioned it at reception in the morning, housekeeping had replaced the matress before we returned from breakfast. So no complaints there.

The breakfast included in the room price was tea, toast and cereal, which was fine for us.. However, they ran out of bread after they served us on the Sunday morning (In fact, I'm sure we were sitting near the previous reviewer Staceyface, who also mentioned this). The family who arrived after us got nothing but directions to the nearest cafe, as there were also no cooked breakfasts left either. As Staceyface mentioned, the astonishing thing was that the breakfast staff seemed to think this was ok. Fortunately, they must have got some more bread in, as we had toast on Monday again :-)

In summary, our stay was fit for purpose, but I can relate to previous reviewers.

We were transferred to this hotel from the Crown hotel in stoke(which I strongly advise you steer clear of). The evening staff welcomed us, unfortunatly we were too late to get a meal due to being moved there last minute, but the receptionist ordered food from local chinese for us and allowed us to eat in it their resturant. We then sat in their bar and had a ball with all the staff that were on. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only down side to the hotel was the morning staff. Actually looked like they didn't want to be there. Morning breakfast was not up to much and some people had to be turned away due to running out of food. Would like to thank the evening staff because they turned a disater into a night to remember. Many thanks. Would definately stay again, but would probably go elsewhere for my breakfast!!!

stayed here for two nights on two seperate occasions in feb. both times were a saturday and sunday night stay.
on the first occasion the room we was given was fairly spacious clean (apart from a few grubby marks on the carpet) and ok for what we paid (£45 per night) although have managed to get decent deals at other nicer hotels in the area but on this occaision it was a last minute idea so was unable to find anything cheaper. wasnt great but wasnt awfull, had an issue with the lights blew the fuse when swithching the main lights on this happend at about 9.30 am on the sunday morning, was about to pop into the town to get some breakfast so went to reception, was told that they often have problems with the fuses in that block!! came back at 11.30 am and fuse had been changed. Found bed was a lumpy and quite hard felt like the mattress was maybe on its last legs.
as i said didnt find the place awfull but was nothing to right home about so when a couple of weekends later we needed a place to crash again i called the motel at 7pm on the saturday night they had a room available originally planned to stay just the one night this time and was charged £50 for the night we checked in at 9pm so was great that it was so last minute. but the quality of the room was awfull compared to the previous room we had stayed in, it was extremly dated (i have inclded pictures) and paint was peeling of the walls in various places, the room felt grubby although the bed sheets were still clean and the bed was much more comfortable than the previous room. the radiator didnt seem to pump out that much heat either, woke the next morning to find two foot of snow so decided to stay a further night as didnt like the idea of driving home in the snow, reception was very helpfull and arranged for us to stay a further night this time charging £45 for the room.

Decided to have lunch at the attatched sizzlers restaurant, was £5.99 for soup, carvery and ice cream. didnt try the soup (it was leek and potatoe) meat from the carvery was nice but potatos and veg was a undercooked and icecream was ok but presentation left a lot to be desired. it filled a whole but wouldnt eat there again went for a few drinks in the ajoining pub afterwards decently priced drinks pool table and darts board, nice atmosphere tho not many people in there.

as i said rooms were unpredictable, im not sure if i would risk staying here again, was good because could fit us in last minute , was close to where my boyfriend was working and wasnt overly expensive. and the bad points were the lumpy bed on the first stay and the grubby and dated room on the second stay.

Paid £45 for one night. No breakfast provided, could have toast for £2.50p each extra. Toilet had bolt as handle, scraped hands, small bar of soap provided, nothing else. 1 tea bag per person provided and one carton of milk. Attitude of receptionist, was 'so what' why do I care! Only use this motel as your last resort, rooms very basic. If you don't expect much and your standards are low, then here is ok for you. very out dated rooms and staff come to that. Not recommended.
