“asked for soup and a roll”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

The soup was about the worst tomato soup we had tasted and served with small corners of white bread. Sadly not a nice meal. However the Sunday roasts being eaten next to us looked great but we had had one elsewhere at lunch time so just wanted soup. It would have been better if they had said no soup available.

“Amazing home cooked food!”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Love the food here, proper home cooked, amazing chips, good childrens play area outside. Plenty of veggie choices for me. Highly recommended.

Manager/owner is friendly however sometime you are standing at the bar waiting for him to finish his conversation with the locals!

This is the best place in the area for lovely home cooked food with massive portions!

“Lovely friendly pub lunch!”
Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

Just dropped in with my mum on the way to blackbeook zoo. Has lasagna and she had steak pie. The portions were huge so we were very full, but not complaining. Lovely bar man, very welcoming and friendly. Great decor and music on too! Food was all homemade and tasty. Well done!

“Great beer and great homemade food”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

I'm local to this pub, but even so, I've yet to find better beer or pub grub than here.
Just read a review that gave this 1 star. This is I believe, by a moron. If food has stopped being served 5 minutes ago, which was obviously made clear to them, I fail to see how this could be considered poor service.
If you have a healthy appetite, and enjoy piping hot homemade food, you'll love it!
Oh, and the bitter is always top notch.
