A well laid out museum and we especially enjoyed viewing the Staffordshire Hoard, which we had seen previously in Birmingham. the pottery exhibits were quite over whelming. the cafe did seem a bit dark and dismal and the good ok, the staff were friendly

Opened by Prince Charles in 1981, this local museum is actually quite interesting.
There is an interesting natural history section, which our boys loved, artefacts from the Stone Age upwards, a small art gallery, which features a work by Lowry and one of the famous WW2 spitfire planes.
Better still, is the unique Staffordshire Hoard, which is well displayed with iPads beside most displays which help to show more detailed photos of these pretty gold objects.
We spent several enjoyable hours there.
