Having visited The Emma Bridgewater factory on numerous occasions (including the tour which is very interesting) I enquired whether it would be possible to have my hen party there, as I wanted to do something creative which would appeal to all ages. My lovely maid of honour booked 22 of us in on a Saturday in February, and all staff were very accommodating to our needs. We paid £20 each which included the decoration of a mug, plate or bowl, studio fee and a lunch, which we all felt was excellent value for money. There was plenty of space for us in the decorating studio, and once we'd all finished decorating we headed over to the cafe where piles of sandwiches and cake were waiting for us, along with pots of tea and coffee, all served in lovely EB pottery. We could even bring our own Prosecco! As the 'hen' I was also given a lovely gift of a mug and bowl in her well-known heart print pattern. It was planned to perfection and I can't thank the staff enough for such a lovely day.
All decorated and fired items were available for collection several weeks later apart from one, and once we realised one was missing from the group we contacted EB and it was sent straight to us in the post, which we were happy with.
Whilst there I also bought a un-fired jug (£59 I think) which I planned to use as a quirky guest book at our wedding reception. We were provided with special pencils and rubbers for our guests to sign their names with, then after the wedding we took it to have it fired! A member of staff in the decorating studio painted our names and the date of the wedding around the rim, which looks just beautiful, and my mum noticed that she put a lot of effort into rubbing off smudges for us, which was very thoughtful of her. We now have a very special yet functional reminder of our day. The only negative thing I have to say is that when the jug was collected by my mum, the lady at the front desk of the decorating studio was quite off-hand with her as she didn't have any paperwork to accompany our jug. Another lady there who knew all about it was lovely and immediately said that she'd seen the jug and thought it was lovely, but the first lady she saw was just rude for no reason. It won't put either of us going again, I just think it's a shame when a lovely team of hardworking people are let down by the poor customer service of an individual.
